I know Birmingham is awful. When my wife was actually doing floor nursing she did her 3 12's and brought home about 50k a year.

She does PRN home health now for 38 an hour.

Thats good pay for HH. My girl did HH a year or so and was paid by the visit. After all patients were seen and charted on, the pay was crumbs.

That's a lot of hustle

You'd be working damn near 6 12 hours shifts a week assuming time and a half for OT.

You don’t know what you are talking about. We have many open positions and can’t find people to fill them.

Is that why hospitals are always recruiting and hiring nurses? because there's too many?

I retired ICU 2010,I made $82,000 my last 2 years with 4 hours overtime every 2 weeks.I could have made good bit more if I had worked nights.
One thing not factored in is how little money a nurse has to spend on clothes.People in business world have to spend a good bit on clothes, nurses typically work in scrubs. Some areas such as Cath Lab,scrubs are provided.
Of course, people in business world aren’t faced with all the unpleasantries nurses are faced with on a daily basis.
