It’s just not worth the effort anymore. I can’t seem to find the thread, as so many OT threads I’ve posted on have been moved to PT that it’s bumped it out of my search history, but my last real convo on the PT had me posting something that the board would likely agree with 95%, and yet because I hedged my opinion slightly, I got insulted for half a dozen pages. Most people eventually came around, but by that point, I just posted that getting through the initial groupthink surge wasn’t worth the effort, and that would be my last PT thread for a while.

I agree with you there. Also, there's some crazy hatred of libertarians over there too which kind of sours me on it every now and then.

Ideologically, there really isn’t a big difference in the prevailing opinions of the two boards. The PT board just puts its crazy front and center, while the OT board hides it.

It's unfortunately gone to lunacy now but I think it was most interesting during the Trump candidacy up until COVID, if you overlook the Q loons, at least. It was then that people were most open to ideas that weren't the same ones on their TVs.

I'll never understand the desire to frequent a place that does nothing but mirror, echo and reinforce your (in this case, wacko) beliefs. It's not interesting.

And if you read it, everyone is laughing at the notion of it being legit. There are absolutely some loonies there, but the track record of "conspiracy theories" ultimately turning into just conspiracies and becoming true is pretty good.

If you spend time on multiple boards you'll find the same mentality. The Rant gets knocked by the SEC rant, the OT always seems butt hurt over the PT board and the soccer board gets roasted by other boards.
Ever board has a culture and one thing to remember is a lot of them use sarcasm, troll even and other things.
Its really in a sense a kind of tribalism you're seeing.

The Q thread had a lot to do with the final major turn in the Poli Board. It was one of the very few fully protected classes on TD, understandable due to the traffic it generated.

Four pages of only a handful of honest responses. Most are just leftists incapable of defending their position on the PT, so they bitch on the OT about an echo chamber and muh Q for the upvotes from the other failures.
There is no rivalry and the truth about the PT is there are many people from all over the political spectrum engaging in good conversation. You just have to learn which posters and threads to ignore. Same as the OT.
