What a unique comedian. Always found his shite to be way funnier than my friends thought it was.

I'm 29 and I think Norm Macdonald and Rodney Dangerfield are the funniest men to ever walk the earth. George Carlin was an angry preachy self righteous douche bag. We will never have another Norm Macdonald.

I should exclude late 20s here, but I’ve talked to a few people in their early 20s and they have no idea who he is.

Yeah… he’s blaming them being cannibalized by themselves. It’s completely absurd to a ridiculous degree. Do you not understand Norm’s humor?

This. It's a good joke. Then again norm was a comedians comedian

overall could give two fricks attitude was what made him brilliant.

That's a pretty good way to put it. He didnt care if the joke landed with the audience as long as a few of his friends in the crowd would die laughing at it

And by the way, this was the dedication in his book.

Great story about a kid in 2nd Grade about Norm’s kindness. People in their early 20s don’t realize how big Farley and Norm were back in the day. My 4th grade class we talked about Farley and Norm constantly: Twitter

Norm was a very good man, and I’m now poorer having him leave. I can say with little doubt I’m on the .1% of his fanbase. Been obsessed with his comedy since 8 or 9. God he was just the best. Got tears now, and he was just fricking awesome. Norm is dead and all of us are worse for it.

Honestly I am going to show my kids the Saget roast.

The story behind that was great. The roast producers were pushing him to be as dirty as possible, so he went the opposite way. Got out an old book of jokes that his dad had given him when he was a kid when he first got into comedy, and picked out a bunch of ancient retirement party-style jokes.

The correspondents dinner is great. All the cringe from the audience is amazing.

Underrated part of that roast was his response to Jim
Norton later on at it

Conan and Norm were just hilarious together. Conan would just see it coming, and start cringing so early.

I was trying to make a gif of my favorite example of that, but it's taking too long. Here's the youtube: I said Doc, she's choking!

I didn’t know he wrote a book, what’s the name of it? Have you read it?

I think Bob Newhart described him best
quote:

He was an original. When I watched young comics on the early comedy TV shows, like The Improv or Catch a Rising Star, I’d study each comic’s style and think, oh yeah, he’s doing Leno or he’s doing Letterman or he’s doing Rickles. When Norm came on, I said he’s not doing anybody.” — Bob Newhart, in an emailed statement.

The sheer confidence to say anything anytime without any fear of ridicule whatsoever. Truly a unique character
