I am glad I got to see him before he passed.
Got to see him a bunch of times in at least half a dozen venues. Auburn, GT’s Grant Field, 6 flags over Georgia,… It’s been a minute, but I think Lakewood amphitheater might have been the last time I saw him perform.
One time at Six Flags he was singing while walking back-and-forth. As he came over to my side I stood up and cheered, he pointed directly at me. (He might’ve been pointing at somebody else he knew, or some hot chick behind me, but I will always remember my version.)

Damn that sucks. Call me cheesy but I love the take it easy vibe of his music. Always perked me up if I was feeling down. Will be missed for sure.
Zac Brown and that hairless cherub Kenny Chesney were forever chasing/copying/ripping off his vibe. Neither quite got there.

Oh go EABOD. He wrote a lot of good songs and carved out his own corner in music that was occupied by NO ONE ELSE.

How about Migration, gonna buy me a sweat stained Bogart suit and an African parakeet...
Or Banana Republics, down to the banana republics, down to the tropical sun, go the expatriated Americans, hopin' to find some fun...
late at night you will find them, in the cheap hotels and bars, hustling the senoritas while they dance beneath the stars

him the first time at the Worlds Fair in New Orleans and Randy Meisner from the Eagles played with him and his band. Now both are gone.
Best show I ever saw him at was at Tipitina’s in the early ‘90’s. We used to get Tip’s calendar in the mail and keep it on our fridge. I noticed one band called Freddy and the Fishsticks was playing. Knowing that was the name of a short story in one of his books we showed up and got to see him. Thought I was clever and maybe figured out something that others hadn’t until we got there and the line was around the block.
In that amphitheater by the river? I was also at that show. I had tickets to the 2nd show that night, so it made for a fricked up evening.
I saw him play at Tip's as Freddie and the Fishstix as well. It was a weeknight and we went straight from work to get in line. I worked at a bank at the time, so my co-workers and I made for a strange sight among the Aloha shirts in our dark suits and white shirts.

I saw this in an article. This is pretty impressive.
Mr. Buffett was also an accomplished author; he was one of only six writers, along with the likes of Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck and William Styron, to top both The Times’s fiction and nonfiction best-seller lists. By the time he wrote “Tales From Margaritaville” (1989), the first of his three No. 1 best sellers.

He is a great author too. Tales from Margaritaville will make you want to pack your bags and move to the Caribbean. Full of vivid description and great characters. A Salty Piece of Land was a great spin off of the Tully Mars character.

Did he really write those? Likely had a ghost writer.

Well frick! My wife and daughter and granddaughter are in Destin this weekend and I have been thinking of his songs all week. Every time we go to the red neck riviera I play his 4 cd collection. My brother turned me onto JB back in the early 70’s. Living and Dying in 3/4 Time, White Sport Coat with a Pink Carnation and Rancho Deluxe. Story I heard don’t really know it’s true was he was at a bar in Tennessee, and wanted to fight the sheriff after being thrown out. The sheriff was Buford Pusser (msp)

Take it for what it's worth. I believe he did. Here is an article about his writing. He worked as a journalist when he first went to Nashville.
