On mobile but just heard Apple is finally dismantling iTunes and will ax the program all together. Buying music by the song for .99 is no more, all streaming now

I never was a fan of iTunes. It always ran poorly and took up too much memory. I pretty much stopped using it 10 years ago outside of backing up my iphone.

I was actually wondering earlier this week when this would happen.

ETA: Surely you mean they're doing away with the song marketplace. What about movies/TV and iphone backup/management?

I'm so sick of the expansion of subscription-based products. If I want to buy shite, just let me buy it.

I definitely get this and agree for the most part, but for music it makes so much sense. For only $10/month I essentially own access to any album on my phone. For the folks who want to always try new music, you can sample as much as you want without paying any extra.

On top of that, if I find something I really like and want to "own" forever, a vinyl record is the way to go.

iTunes sucks anyways. I never really used it. It always pissed me off that you couldn’t just drag and drop song files.

My poor daughter was an iPod/iPhone/iTunes lover until it lost like a hundred dollars of her songs. I felt really bad for her.

sounds like your content will still be available, just thru a different/new app.

It's 99 cents a month for 50GB.

If you can't afford $12 a year, you shouldn't be posting on the OT.

I always have bluetooth issues with this method.

Did you even read up on the topic you are talking about?

iTunes is moving to separate apps for movies, music, etc. for Mac.

It will be similar if not the same thing that is already on iPhone/iPad.
