Kerry Goode, former Alabama and NFL football player, has it and has been giving updates on Facebook since he got the diagnosis. I don't have Facebook, but my mom will read me an update from him occasionally. For those going through it, or dealing with a loved one who is, his experience and words may be of some help or comfort.
I don't know the best way to link him, but a search of his name should bring up his page and articles/interviews with him.

Damn, I didn't even realize he was sick. ALS and cancer are the worst. I'd rather go quick than whiter way to nothing having people wipe my arse and not be able to talk or anything.

You are a good man. My mom's husband (not my dad) is... And I don't use this term lightly.. A narcissist. And he truly functions on the idea of "how does it benefit me?" Example, the week before Thanksgiving I called Hospice and told them my mom wanted a medical bed. It would have helped her 6 months before then, but he pushed back on getting it. That same week it was delivered and he says.... "I don't see how this benefits me".
The week of Christmas one of his daughters came down from out of state so, only because they needed the space, did he put my mom in the medical bed and has used it ever since because.... "The medical bed is a lot easier to to deal with her because it goes up and down".
This adds another layer to it. Whenever the time comes, I hope you are able to give your wife peace and remember that she is the same person she has aways been, despite needing more and more assistance (which I am sure you will),

There comes a point in a "saved" persons life where they are just "tired" of the hurt and suffering and are ready to go "home". If it comes to the point of your mom needing to move on, hold her hand and tell her it's okay. Seriously, this is very important, let her know it's okay to go "home".

I know this is going to be the greatest source of her frustration and I'm doing my best to be aware of it. Communication is a big thing. I've already AI generated her voice and she has an app that basically allows her to speak in her own voice.
I'm going to try and take it one step further. I'm going to build an "AI Agent" that is trained off my wife's text messages to generate possible responses for her to choose from based on previous interaction to speed communication.
If I can master this, I'm going to give it away to anyone that can scale the concept so the largest amount of folks can use it. It's a work in progress though.

Eric Dane's interview with GMA where he announced that he had ALS was somewhat informative. He brought a doctor with him and she addressed increase in diagnosis and other things.

Some ex on set Grey's Anatomy extra is accusing McSteamy and McDreamy of bullying her on the set and has publicly declared she's glad he's dead and her diatribe is full of accusations of rape and other stuff (not all about Eric Dane.)

This is totally superficial- but even though ALS is always terrible- I think for a guy like Eric Dane it’d be even worse.. .. although i think there are a couple of celebrities who post here, most of us cannot relate to what it’s like.. but that show, Gray’s Anatomical- even though ive never seen it, i think it’s been on since i was a teenager, and im in my 40s now.. so it’s been on for a long arse time, and as a result it is shown all over the world.. this guy was global , truly an international name and the type of adulation that must come with that is mind boggling.. to go from that life to all of a sudden , you’re slurring your words, then you cant lift your arm, then even more horrific shite.. it has to be the worst .
