So I'm wondering if white and black officers can work together and get along why can't normal people just get along? I don't know why it's so hard. Really I don't.

I would say more people get along with other races than not, but you just hear about the negative situations in the media because it creates something to report on. I am in a small town where everyone knows just about everyone. If I go to the store or just somewhere in town, I see and talk to white people, black people.. I can honestly say I don't even think about race until something makes me think about it.

There are white people who put all black people under one umbrella and black people who do the same to white people. They think that when someone says something stupid in the media, that is race related, they are are speaking for all people of that race. People like Al Sharpton & Jesse Jackson are perceived to be the voice of black people when in fact there are a lot of blacks who do not like them at all because they realize they make their money being "the voice of the black people".

I know white people who are extremely racist and do not like the thought of being around black people. There are black people who do not like whites. There is this black dude I talk to sometimes if I run into him, he is an okay dude, but he does not hide the fact he is against interracial relationships. He told me before he would never allow his daughter to date a white guy. He said if she does, she better not let him find out.

Then there are black people who do not like other blacks the same way there are whites who do not like what we refer to as white trash. That's more of the reality, but when there is something bad that happens that involves black and whites that's what we hear in the news.

And I'm watching, and it's still going back past the split, as far as I can see. It's like a never ending line of police cars with lights flashing.

No idea. I was wondering that. You would think they would all be very close to each other, with all the states represented for this one.

We were in NYC last week ... needed help with directions from time to time and we had MANY people actually stop and ask if they could help us .. they were white, black, foreign and I could not have cared less!

I work with some really wonderful black people at a nursing home and man they are super nice and great with their residents. I don't consider myself racist in anyway .. but my mother inlaw dear Lord bless her as I have to at times leave the room during dinner conversation. Luckily for me her son my husband is NOT like that. Generational thing? Maybe. My dad said something racist once in front of my kids and I said "DADDY!" and he stopped and said "you're right ... they'll figure it out" to which my reply was "Yes, they'll form their own opinions and I'm teaching them you shouldn't judge and generalize like that."

IDK .. I'm tired of hearing negative ... I just want to live a good, happy, fruitful life and have people get along.

I need a nap. Or a drink. Or both.

It is truly amazing how many police cars have passed. I'd guess more than 500.

I was on Highland in the median at Maxwell's with a couple of ladies from the office and once it got to raining pretty hard they wanted to go back to the office.

Kind of wishing I had let them take my car and stayed out there

I have watched this procession on Highland Road at Alexander's parking lot for an hour with more police vehicles to come. Many more. I have seen them from all over the country. I hope they stay and the other two officers get the same treatment. This is incredible.

And the kid that works at Alexander's walking handing out blue ribbons even now in this weather deserves a paid day of vacation.
