No, the school is using the kids to put pressure on the deadbeat parents, hence why the flyer was sent home.
One would think that was fairly obvious, the message was never intended for the kids per se.

I might have misunderstood your post then.
What do you mean by “everyone gets a trophy”? Becuase all I see here are some kids getting a reward based on what their parents are doing.

Sometimes I don’t have a choice. I have to hold my nose and press a button. I usually feel really dirty and have to go straight home and take a shower.

This makes it sound even worse.
The kids are basically being used as pawns in the school’s colllection efforts.
They’re doing this becuase they’re too stupid/lazy to come up with ways to collect that don’t involve marginalizing some of their students.

Normally I would like this idea, but this is Slidell. Most of these kid’s parents probably od’d on heroin and they’re just doing all they can to get by.

Jefferson Parish elementary lunch was I think 50 cents in the early 90s. Def less than a dollar. No idea what it is now but probably still cheap. At least half the kids got free or reduced lunch. I was one of the few who paid full price.

The obvious answer would be to stop giving stuff on credit, but that would be unfair to the snowflakes as well.

I’ve also suggested putting it on the property tax bill or issuing a ticket to parents who don’t pay.
