So I worked for an employer last year, and I handled all of their H.R. duties. I know for a fact that my employer was hiring and using illegal immigrants and giving them 1099 to skirt both them and him paying taxes.
I got laid off from there fairly abruptly one day.
Is it petty to report them to ICE? Or is that a legitimate thing I should do?

Unlikely anything would happen if you did report it.

Have you given any thought to any legal jeopardy of your own since you were admittedly party to criminal activity? Not judging you, just playing devil's advocate.
And do you qualify as a whistle blower if you're no longer employed?

I have emails where I BCC'd myself stating that this was illegal activity. They purchased "papers" for people who couldn't afford them. I've got some damning evidence.

Most didn't have SSNs, so random numbers...some where blank.

Report to IRS and get a percentage for whistleblowing tax fraud. If you're gonna burn it down, get paid while doing so.

You have an obligation to your country to report them for hiring illegals.

Lot of America hating Libs in this thread especially the OP. Turning a blind eye to Mexicans taking OUR jobs while working for that enabler company is shameful. Those guys are taking their cash and sending it back over the border to fund human trafficking.
