Because people suck. They give the restaurants no other option. People think they need 6 Cane's sauces with their three finger box.

There's a video ( can't search for it now) where a guy was so pissed off that he insisted on buying either $100 or $500 with of extra sauces. Restaurant tried to say no, but he insisted and walked out with all of their sauces packets.

Some people just don't understand how restaurants work.

And some owners / managers don't understand human nature.

How much money was made when a customer avoids the restaurant completely after being chiseled for a trivial charge?

Any restaurant that does this is a trashy place and you're trashy for going to such places. If you're looking to eat some ranch with a side of chicken fingers, go to COSTCO, get the family size tub of ranch, and then grab some Mc D's to go. Fatty.

When the restaurant gets that shite for free than you can. Or how about they just added 25 cent to your chicken fingers and then give you a "free" extra ranch?

Zaxby's

Zaxbys is so ridiculous in pricing. The only decent thing they have is chicken wings and they are priced like gold and if you want extra dipping sauce they jack you again.

Doesn't happen. People will talk big but rarely give up something they otherwise enjoy over trivial shite.

Just trade the slaw for sauce.

Can't do that at Cane's. You can trade the slaw/toast/fries for one another, but not sauce. But, but, but, they have to make a profit.

Cane's wouldn't be as large as it is now if they were relying on the extra $.29 for a thing of sauce to turn a profit.

I probably more profit oriented than most on this board, but there are other ways to recoup the cost than making a customer feel like he is being nickeled and dimed.

When I waited tables, If I got the feeling you were going to tip me well I wouldn't charge for it. If I got the feeling you weren't I would.

Food costs are high man. Say 20 people come in a day wanting an extra ramican of ranch. $5 a day. 35 a week. $1820 a year. That's a nice profit for extra ranch.

Yeah, except how it actually works is those people will take their business elsewhere on principle.

Let's say the average price of an entree/drink meal deal is $7 on the low end. 20 people who would have come in if not for the markup. $140 a day. $980 a week. $50, 960 a year.

That's a lot of profit lost for a ranch markup.
