We need to clean out a bed room that's now basically a junk room. There's a new bedroom suit in there but one wouldn't know it for all the crap in there.

Any experiences with these services. I'm thinking of using the same firm that does our trash pickup.

What to watch out for?

Thanks for your very helpful answer. I came to the right place.

Nah. But cleaning it out little by little would be a pain in the arse.
Stuff my kids art work from over the years, disney crap, etc.
It's not really that bad but I want it all gone immediately; not waiting week by week for garbage pickup.

There's nothing growing in there and there's nothing organic in there.

Last time we rented a dumpster to clean out a garage was around $400 if I remember right.

Not sure you really need all that space for cleaning out a single room though. You could always just put what doesn't fit in your trash can in bags on the curb on collection day.

in your mind, how complicated a transaction do you think this would be?

you call the dumpster company, tell them what you want, they drop it off, you fill it up, and they come get it

Why rent a dumpster when you have an entire NO east for free to dump your old shite in ?

if you have a concrete driveway be careful of their placement and how hard they slam it down

haul in/haul out fees
additional fees on weight of loaded dumpster (they charge by the ton)
where they put it. If it rains they either leave it till they can get to it or tear up your shite getting to it. Either one can be costly.
if you're in a residential area, make sure you aren't in violation of an HOA with location of the dumpster.

I would rent a trailer and haul it to a landfill before I’m going through the hassle of a dumpster.

You don’t know anyone with a truck?

Yeah, my FIL. He has a large trailer but it's open.

get one of those Bagster dumpster things. They're like $30 and then around $100 for it to be picked up. Also you then don't have to worry about how long it takes you since you aren't renting the dumpster.

I thought all men owned a truck. I’ve had a truck since I was 14 years old.

Put some junk in your trash. Give the rest to Goodwill.
