People have mental issues, face mental health stigma in this country, Won't seek help, go crazy with no one to bounce their thoughts off of, want to go out in blaze of glory, shooting happens.

It baffles me that we still waste as much money as we do on the war on drugs and leave something like mental healthcare so underfunded

Have you not seen how these play out? They immediately attack our rights and freedoms in these situations.
Obviously I'm sympathetic towards the victims and their families. shite just got really fricked up for them for no reason at all. Unfortunately, we will once again have to defend our rights because some nutjob decided to go bat shite crazy.

I get your point. But if they didn't do anything about our rights and freedoms after Newton, I don't think they ever will. Guns are way to popular in this country to go after. People feel way too strong to make any kind of real moves on them. I just can't stand politicizing the moment right after it happens no matter what side of the aisle it comes from.

Of course 41 vs 9000 looks crazy out until it's put into more context.

You need MORE context.

I'm on your side but if England had the same population as the US that would still only be 246.77 per year. That would mean that per capita the us has 36.47 times more gun related deaths than England.

Mass shootings like this account for a miniscule number of those deaths by firearm.

While still tragic, most of the firearms related deaths in this country come from criminals killing other criminals.

We're talking about deaths by handgun. One race above all others is leading that charge... and against themselves.

Breaking story on the OT - 20 comments on the situation, 100 regarding gun control or the lack thereof.

Some of you need to frick off.

Since there's a mass shooting almost every week, it leaves a pretty brief window to discuss such things. LINK

Also this is the 45th shooting at a school in 2015.

i know. I just wish we wouldn't use these tragedies to spark various political debates. The media does this and its deplorable.

Hey dickhead, I´m just telling him his logic is flawed (in terms of using multiples for ´context´).

Read thru the thread skimming posts. Saw someone posted that they thought the shooter was down, has this been confirmed?
