I liked the response. “This isn’t an airport, you don’t need to announce your departures”

First reply on that tweet:

"Dear Elon, why did you spend $44 Billion on Twitter?!? The World's population is 8 billion. YOU could have given each person $5 billion and still have money leftover. I feel like a cheque for $5 billion would be life changing for most people. Yet you WASTED it all on Twitter"

the fact that anyone thinks people actually care if they leave Twitter is kind of a microcosm of how warped their perception of reality has become from prolonged exposure to these sites

Good. Maybe the BlueCheck weirdo’s and bots will be forced to disperse and be deplatformed before the election

This person definitely majored in gender studies because they definitely didn't get a STEM degree.

I’ll re-join Twitter to make up for the exodus of bots if musk gets it.

Elon's cheer squad cheered when he proposed the buy, they cheered when he backed out, and now they'll cheer that he's forced to go through with the buy. They must have migraines as excruciating as his.

Once he’s in control and has all the data on bots, how does that affect all the prior executives and their representations to investors?

I actually made a Twitter to support my boy Musk when it was first announced he was buying it. I didn’t think it would go through so I stopped using it, but might have to start again. I have only ever used it to troll libs, so it’s not really “social media” for me, but I don’t have Facebook or Instagram

They'll be in some serious shite if that's true. But he just shot himself in the foot because the company would be worthless.

ETA he would need to prove they knew about it and intentionally misrepresented. Them being willfully ignorant probably isn't enough.

It probably doesn't because Twitter gave themselves a lot of wiggle room with the wordings in their filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Plus the bot issue from Twitter's standpoint has always been about monetizable users, not total users. So bots that they didn't make money off of didn't matter. That was the difference between what Elon claimed vs what Twitter claimed.

And Twitter has provided their data streams to customers who bought ads on the platform so they've been able to see what they've been paying for and have kept paying for it.

I find it funny theres always a huge swath of these bots no matter what happens. All the right wingers left years ago so now with all the left wingers leaving there should be noone left.

Doubt it matters. Noone was buying ads on Twitter based on number of users. Ad sales are huge business and there is all kinds of information provided when it comes to click-throughs and sales. If anyone really thinks companies are dropping millions based on # of twitter followers they are naive.

Everyone always knew there was a large number of bots. That goes the same for any social media site.
