please don't make fun of the Nissan Rogue. It does a 0-60 in 4.2 seconds and has plenty of cargo room and my wife said it was pretty tough looking

And if you file a claim through your insurance if someone else causes the damage, the loss of use, diminished value, and handling fees are waived.

Y’all are a bunch of jokers. The Damage Waiver is what you should be purchasing. You’re in for a real bad time if you decline and get in an accident.
Sure your insurance will pay. But you will get charged an out of service fee and it will be rack rate per day. It’s a nightmare if it takes 2-3 weeks at $50 a day.

Yeah but you’re filing a claim through your insurance. Who wants to do that over some idiot tearing up your rental?

Never buy a used rental car. I can 100% assure you SOME people abuse their rental cars. A few examples, Starsky & Hutch car jumps & transmissions thrown in park going 60 mph.....always run a Carfax before buying a used car, if it was ever a rental avoid it.

I damaged a rental car a few years back. RC company said it was $1200. I had paid with my Amex. $500 deductable and Amex paid the rest.

I would.
Someone else's fault, and I'm using the coverage for which I've already paid.
My company will get their money back and I'll get my deductible back.

To each their own. Just seems like a load of bullshite run around to save $100

What bullshite runaround?

Yeah that’s kind of the attitude I get after a close call with a circumstance similar to the OP
They ended up letting it go because they had records of past evidence of damage, but I don’t want to be on edge for that ever again

Amex offers a premium insurance option now.
30 dollars, if I remember correctly, for 42 days coverage.
It’s primary coverage versus secondary.

How can rental insurance make any sense if you renting for mor than a few days? It’s stupid...
I had a windshield break on me while renting, I just gave my insurance...got one phone call and it got handled...I already have insurance... I am an insured DRIVER...why do I need more?

Have fun getting them to pay for it. It's like pulling teeth and while they are trying to get payment for the damages, you won't be able to rent from any of the 3 Enterprise brands (Enterprise, National, Alamo) and that could take months. Especially if it's through American Express.
I left an Enterprise rental on the roof in the middle of Wyoming and had no problem renting with other companies within a few weeks. Enterprise took about a year.
