The elevator needs work, not the hoistway
You can look up building implosions on YouTube where the buildings fall but the hoistway remains.

Some of our older posters may remember the derecho that hit Baton Rouge in about 1989. There was an event downtown and there was a stage set up and I think the stage super structure fell over and killed somebody.
My wife and I were on bicycles and we saw it coming from across the river and it looked terrible.
We had no place to hide so we backed up into a recessed doorway down-wind on a corner and watched all hell break loose.
The funniest thing was seeing a guy hanging onto a large tent that was blowing down the street. He looked like he was skiing behind it as his feet were just sliding down the road. He went by and then went out of sight just kept going.
There were vendors set up and shite was everywhere.
I’ve been through many hurricanes, but that was the worst looking shite I’ve ever seen.

I don’t answer my phone for work after a hurricane except to let them know I’m alive. I’m out until power comes back on at home. Under enough stress keeping things going.

That project took a long time to complete, but at least it wasn't as long as the Caesar's Garage replacement.
LOL
Caesars took several months for one escalator. The escalator takes you from the garage to the tunnel.

Fortunately, SW Mississippi hasn’t gotten the same volume of precipitation over the past week as places to it’s south.

Grateful nothing bad happened here in Ascension but still questioning why day care pulled the trigger so quickly to cancel when nothing else around here seemed to have closed

Saw signs of a tornado at the canal/navarre area. Couple of downed trees at canal blvd and the railroad tracks, and a power pole leaned over across Navarre

Just wait until they get to regular school and they close because there might be a cold front

So was I. I watched it roll in from the 11th floor until they made us go into the stairwell. It was black as night at 9am until it turned green. I'll never forget it.
I can’t find it but there was a video taken by a guy on a tugboat or barge in the Mississippi during the derecho and it was terrifying. That’s the last place I’d want to be when that bad boy rolled in

Metairie Road blocked at the cemetery bc of a tree that fell from the golf course side.
I heard something about a small tornado, didn't say where, but it had to be somewhere around there. The closer I got to the interstate the worse the wind damage got.
Tree split in half right next to Old Metairie Discount, tree completely uprooted in the neutral ground just past the canal 200 yards after that and then the tree blocking the road 100 yards after that.
When we circled around to the interstate there was all kinds of tree damage in the cemetery and 2 power poles leaning like MJ on the east side of the interstate.
