Super moon = full moon at its biggest because its closest to earth it ever gets in its lopsided orbit.
Eclipse = moon passes directly into earths shadow
Add both at same time = super moon eclipse
Eclipse = moon passes directly into earths shadow

It's a lunar eclipse which happens occasionally. What's different this time is that the orbit of the moon has brought it as close to or closer to earth than normal during said eclipses, causing it to appear slightly larger than usual.
