Second, how do you quantify success? What you call success could be a source of misery for some.

To your OP:
Life is about accomplishment, agreed. However, if you don't take the time to enjoy it along the way, then at the end of your life you've never really lived a life at all.
The fact that we can feel good and bad about things along the way distinguishes us from many other life forms. To forego that entirely for some continuous goal of achieving more and more would mean no accomplishment at all as there is no end in what you propose.

Life is about FINDING MEANING AND PURPOSE. You may or may not be accomplished and you may or may not find “ success “. Either way your story ends in death and along the way you will suffer, get sick, people you love the most will die and you will experience failure and loss. So it’s what you do with that that counts, not the material things you accumulate or your credentials, titles or rewards. Those may give your life meaning but they might also only feed your ego, depending on what kind of introspective powers you have.
As for “ feeling” - life is ALL about your emotions. Your emotions are your guide, they motivate you, keep you aligned and moving forward. Unless you are a sociopath. Which may be the point here.
