I am listening to the latest episode of Rogan and he has Willie D & Mike Judge on. Willie D (part of ghetto boys) is talking about when Tipper Gore and elected officials tried to censor hip hop.

Man I remember when that was going on. They were targeting NWA and 2 Live Crew.. Even at that age, I thought it was fricked up. I remember going get the single tape of 2 Live Crew's "Banned In The USA".

Willie D said the same company that didn't want to distribute their music because of the content was distributing Andrew Dice Clay's material. And as the government was trying to censor hip hop, Eazy E accidentally go invited to a dinner at the white house.. And he went..

I guess I just remember the censoring of hip hop, I was too young to remember Rock & Roll censoring, but I do remember when there was a big deal about how rock & roll was "devil worshipping" music..

Back then it was the "Muh Family Values" crowd attacking Rap and Heavy Metal. Ice Cube and Blacky Lawless had the same main pain in the arse for a while.

You are too young to remember Congressional hearings on backwards masking on rock and roll albums?

I might be completely clueless about this, but I thought backwards masking was a conspiracy.. I guess I have to read up on this.

Hip hop wasn't even her original focus. The Filthy 15 was Judas Priest, Motley Crue, Prince, Sheena Easton, W.A.S.P., Mercyful Fate, Vanity, Def Leppard, Twisted Sister, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, ACDC, Black Sabbath, Mary Jane Girls, and Venom.

Her interest in hip hop came later.

I knew they tried to censor Madonna and Black Sabbath... And out of the rest of them.. Prince, Sheena Easton and Def Leppard?

How were they controversial?
