Remember when KFC used to serve the BACK as a legit piece of chicken?

its that motherfricker up there in the upper left. there wasn't a lick of chicken meat on it.

one time my grandmother was taking us kids for a picnic and picked up a 10 piece box and like 6 or 7 were backs. grandmother didn't suffer fools. she snatched that chicken right out of our hands & left us with grandad while she took care of things. pretty sure she came back with like a 20 pack with ZERO backs.

as a kid i didnt know any better; i was just happy to have a piece of chicken. now i understand her rage.

A box of steamed chicken gizzards back in the late 60s was the absolute tits...

Wish they still had 'em.

My grandfather insisted on having the back and neck when my grandmother fried chicken. He said the little scraps of meat on them were the best on the entire bird.

Two good oysters of meat on a chicken back but the crunch is the best part of fried chicken anyway

Just seemed that way because he had to work so hard to get them.

My dad and his siblings would literally fight over the turkey necks at Thanksgiving as kids.

I remember they had Twister Wraps, only thing I would ever get from them. I have maybe been back twice since then, that was in the 90s I believe

They also sold the keel breast and the pulley bone. The Colonel’s eleven herbs and spices made for some pretty good yard bird. Now, not so much.

Does anybody remember the chicken littles. They were the tiny chicken sliders the made in the eighties. They were so good.

The backs are great, but I certainly wouldn't want that to be the majority of my chicken.

The Colonel was proud of his chicken in the early days and had strict standards on how it was prepared. Can't imagine the tirade he would unleash at the crap they push out now.

My first non farm job was at Church's Chicken. Older black lady comes in my second day of work and orders a "chicken's neck." I tell her we don't have chicken's neck. She repeats that she wants a "chicken's neck." This goes on for a few minutes until she says "it is right there - the one piece chicken's neck."

I say, "oh, you mean the one piece chicken snack."

"That's what I been sayin' ... chicken's neck."

They also sold legitimate potato wedges back in the day. Not those short, stubby bastards.
