I still think the craziest part of this story is that a public school lunch costs $8. But, there is this...
I guess kid wanted school lunch instead of mama's leftovers.
The next shoe to drop is going to be that there is sex involved. Just wait.

Bonnie Kimball claimed that she had lost her job when a supervisor caught her giving food worth $8 to a student whose account had no money. She received an outpouring of support after the story went viral, including a job offer from celebrity chef José Andrés, and the contractor that employed her offered to rehire her.

But the mother of the student who got the free lunch from Kimball has now told the Union Leader that Kimball has been dishonest. She said that her son, a 17-year-old, was supposed to bring his own lunches.

Stone said that the teenager received free food from Kimball for three months, not just one meal.

How is this the lunch ladies fault? Misleading thread title is misleading.

When I was in school, there wasn't a single teacher or lunch lady that I thought I should give it to.
Nowadays, the teachers are better looking. Have a few of the lunch ladies gotten better too?

I can't remember which way I was outraged originally. Races of the involved?

Wait so someone who ran to the media/social media for sympathy wasn’t 100% honest? Shocker

This is something that almost always happens with these kinds of stories.
The news only reports one side of it and that story seems so crazy that 95% of people can't help but feel sympathy for the person in the article.
But if you dig deeper, you find out that there is a lot more to the story, and the reason it seemed so crazy before is because you weren't getting the whole story. When you get the whole story, it all seems much more logical as to why it played out the way it did.
I've seen it happen over and over and over again. Whenever you read a story that seems so unbelievably unjust, it's probably because you are only getting one very biased side of the story.

Everyone knew that when the original story hit. What wasn’t known is the family is poor and expected their son to live off of PB&J for lunch the whole school year. I stand with the generous lunch lady

I'd have done a lot of things for free food in High School, but I don't know about the lunch lady.
