Remember in the 80s everyone always used to say "Naked as a Jaybird"?

Were they talking about a Blue Jay? I never really understood the reference.

Also, why do you think that stopped?

here's what Google AI says about it:

"The saying "naked as a jaybird" is a colloquial expression meaning "completely naked" or "nude". It's a vivid way of describing someone who is without any clothing. The phrase likely originated in the United States in the mid-1800s, possibly from an earlier version "naked as a fledgling jaybird". The "jaybird" part likely refers to the fact that young birds, including blue jays, hatch with little or no feathers"

It’s not “naked” it’s “neckked” when you say this

I didn't know that. I guess that clears up that part. I still don't know why it went out of style. I swear I heard that weekly as a kid.

my granddad always called me a jaybird when i was misbehaving

eta always equated that to annoying blue jays that were always pestering other birds and being loud so i never questioned it.

As the late great Lewis Grizzard put it::

Naked means you don't have any clothes on

Neckked means you don't have any clothes on and you're up to something

From 1974, The Streak

“Yeah, I did
I's just standin' over there by the tomatoes, and here he comes
Running through the pole beans
Through the fruits and veggies, naked as a jay bird
Ethel's over at the jams, jelly's and peckels
I hollered over, I said, "Don't look, Ethel!"
She dropped the whole jar”

Based on the threads you start, it's clear you have a room temperature IQ.

I can't imagine going thru life being as stupid as you seem.

I hope you didn't procreate.
