Lived in CC 2001-2002. Loved it down there. Glad I could help.

Covington is looking kind of dumpy. Over there around Collins. They just keep building low income housing and the low income are migrating.

If you can afford the new home insurance rates: Pass Christian, Long Beach, Ocean Springs, or Biloxi.

North of I-10--off the beach but better rates: D'Iberville, Vancleave, Mobile/Saraland.

Spent sometime last summer in and know some people living around Pass Christian...seems like really nice, easy living.

Good info here. Being close to family may be important. If you are on the Miss coast, visiting family would be very easy. It's a haul from Texas and having lived in Houston, you soon dread that trip back east.

With kids I’d pick somewhere near Houston. Something for every price range housing wise. No state income. Close to all the sports and amenities a big city has to offer.

Fair point. Consider in state college tuition. Texas has far better choices of universities. Could save a ton of $$$ down the line

He is obviously giving you bad information. The place to live in Louisiana is Slidell or Pearl River.

As someone who's not familiar, mind elaborating on the actual current cost differences for home insurance between, say beach front MS and 100 miles inland?

Much more plants in Texas and Louisiana so that should rule out Mississippi easily. I would go with Texas.
