Relocating to Quad Cities area (Davenport, Iowa) for work...

Short notice move, <2 weeks. Seeking advice from anyone familiar with the area.
Will hope to find 10+ acres within 1 hour drive, bonus if it includes hunting land. Limited research leans toward Illinois side for tax purposes. Staying in travel trailer until home purchase.
Also need to find a buyer for Saints season tickets when they arrive.
Looking to learn likes / dislikes from those who have lived there.

I figured Illinois would have higher taxes than Iowa.

My condolences. That part of Illinois is the worst place I have ever been in this country. Worse than the MS Delta, worse than Appalachia. My BIL lived in Thomson, IL and we went out there for Easter a few years back. It was cold, windy, snowy and the people there were the rudest and most miserable folks I've ever met. I couldn't get back to South Carolina quick enough.

One of the Astros' minor leagues team is there. That's all I have to offer.

I just looked it up and Illinois is considered the least tax friendly state in the entire country

I would stay on the Iowa side. Limited experience with davenport, but finding land should not be a problem. Just know that IOWA, stands for idoits out walking around.

Illinois is a shithole. No way I’d curse myself by living there. Iowa would be much better in all respects.

My gg gfather was a guest of the Yankees for a while in Rock Island, IL after he was captured at Vicksburg.
