I hate interstate traffic through Chattanooga. Terrible.

Knoxville could be an option as well. I travel extensively and work from a home office too. So a traditional commute to an office is not really a big concern.

If I had to leave Louisiana, Chattanooga might be my choice. Near the mountains, reasonably close to the beaches, good climate with nice change of seasons.

Your only regret about moving to Chattanooga would be not having done it 6 or 7 years ago when you could have gotten in before the real estate market began to skyrocket.

BR is the 13th worst in the country in this particular list. All of the others are large cities.

6 or 7 years ago was expensive. You’re probably referring to 15-20 years ago.
