I've heard so many people talking about how great Bozeman is lately. Might be somewhere I need to check out.

Never been but always heard great things. Chances are this is a move you will never regret

It is pretty awesome. For starter's its beautiful. You're surrounded by mountains on 3 sides and there is a lot of outdoor activities.
You are near two ski resorts, lots of hiking, lots of rivers for fishing/floating. Canyon Ferry Lake isn't far either and Gallatin National Forest/Highlight Canyon are just south of town. Montana State is pretty much right in the middle of town, so there are always sporting events and concerts. The schools are good also, so you don't have to worry about private school tuition.
There are a lot of breweries in town, a new distillery as well. More and more restaurants are opening up as well.
Also, like Poet said, there isn't really a bad area of town. Some less desirable, sure, but overall most are pretty nice.
I've thought about moving back before, I just really dislike cold weather.

Local kid from Abbeville moved to Bozeman years ago chasing oilfield work. Missed the South LA food and decided to open a small Cajun restaurant. He now has 4 locations in MT, and serves gumbo, etoufee, jambalaya, po-boys, seafood, red beans and rice, etc....
I spent 3 yrs in Billings and went to Cafe Zydeco often. It was pretty good but really pricey. A Baton Rouge native/Huge LSU fan owns the Chop House and Rio Sabinas so there's some local cuisine around there.

That list is old. Right Now sold out to Oracle about 5 years ago, so now Oracle is one of Bozeman's biggest employers.
Interestingly, Right Now was co-founded by Montana's new congressman Greg Gianforte, who made a name for himself last week when he body slammed a pesky reporter the day before the special election.
On another note, the biggest knock on Bozeman is that housing prices are high and wages are pitifully low. I have always worked remotely. Many people there do.

I live in Red Lodge. About 2 hrs from Bozeman. I like visiting bozeman. Cool museums, good downtown. MSU. Belgrade seems to be where some ppl live close to bozeman. Livingston is not far away. Beautiful over near Livingston and road to Yellowstone goes south out of Livingston to Gardiner. Bridger bowl good for skiing close to bozeman. Nice place. Good luck.

Less than west coast housing. Considerably less than here.

Crazy week at work, I'm sorry I haven't been able to reply to the multitude of responses. Bozeman appears to be way more popular than I thought.
Seriously
Sounds like I'm in for something special.
