Only recently learned that some people consider Hinduism to be a monotheistic religion.
Also, there seems to be a connection between the names of Abraham and Sarah with the names Brahma and Saraswati. Additionally, the Jews were a ‘kingdom of priests’ (Exodus 19:6). Likewise, Brahmins are also a community of priests.
Interesting and strong connections. There’s more:

Anyway, what can anyone share about Hinduism being or not being monotheistic. How is this “monotheism” different than Zeus being the “god of gods”.
Not looking for a atheist vs. theist discussion. Nor a why one religion is the true religion.
Just trying to understand how my understanding of monotheism and polytheism apparently is more simplistic than what some others would say.

Israel wasn’t really monotheistic like we understand it in 2023. They more so believed that many elohims(spiritual beings existed) but they believed Yahweh was El Elyon (God Most High) who created all the other spiritual beings. They were to worship him only but the Bible is pretty clear they worshiped the other lesser elohims instead of Yahweh over and over despite the signs and wonders Yahweh did for them.
Highly recommend the work by the late Dr Michael Heiser. Elite scholar of ancient near east and Semitic languages. But was a faithful Christian.

You dumbass. Do you honestly expect the OT Bible thumpers not to hijack this thread? What you are asking for is impossible.

The El were a bunch of nasty drugged-out fricking aliens, here to manage humans like cattle.
They were big in to child sacrifice so the priest were taught how to harvest intestinal fats and prepare the adrenochrome for their huffing.
The bastards could smell it on the altar like sharks smell blood and come from miles around to enjoy it.
Sick bastards. And the angels were their enforcers.

I’d love to see some primary source documents for any of those claims
I mean yeah the child sacrifice was real but you snuck a whole lot more in there.

Some believe that there are two of these elohims(one being Metatron) in plasma-form at earths Lagrange points, and that we are actually plasma-beings temporarily inhabiting mortal bodies.

Elohim is a catagory. Its the heavenly realm. Angels are part of the elohim. No different then when someone in hr calls you, you said 'just talked to hr' even tho there are 100s of employees working in hr.
Orthodox christanity believe in all gods. But saints replaced them in the new order, aka patron saints. But only worship the one truine god.
Hinduism has 1000s gods but all within one god head as been explained to me
René Guénon has good books
Jonathan pageau also on youtube if anyone interested. Alot stuff like what do we mean by angelic bodies etc
Most faiths have strains of truth in them. Basic reality of life, patterns of being we all see.

As I understand it, Hinduism being monotheistic relates to the many faces of one God.
I'm not a scholar, but I bench 350 which is pretty much the same thing.

Historical Religion books
Would also highly recommend Karen Armstrongs 'History of God'
I've read it a few times over the years. Jammed packed with knowledge. It's like thumbing through a college course text book. If you enjoy learning about the subject

There's no connection. Hindu is based on old European polytheistic traditions that existed in Europe before Christianity spread. Europeans left the continent around 2500 BC and slowly migrated east and south through the Iranian plateau and finally landing in India by 1500 B.C. This used to be called the "Aryan invasion" but scholars now believe there was no significant military conflict (at least in India). However, everyone agrees that people descended from Europe made it to India and brought Sanskrit and their religion with them. Sanskrit is an Indo-Aryan language and is derived from the Iranian family. The Iranian languages were first spoken in Southern Russia in what is known as the Andronovo culture.
In recent years several large scale DNA studies have been done of ancient skeletons and these studies also confirm these migrations happened.
