Redemptorist has a large number of faculty who do not teach.

I suspect they were running into serious hurdles in being able to pay for competent teachers.

Duhe took over from Huck when Huck went to LSU with Hi-C.

I need to ask my bro about the big man he brought, I left BR in 1979.

Why are our tax dollars used to pay for educational vouchers to private schools (example Redemptorist) to save kids from a CDF public school when the voucher school is rated F also?

Unfortunetly, there is no way to test the school until they admit kids and the kids get tested.

At least the state isn't letting them take any NEW voucher students, based on performance of the current ones.

But I don't think that goes far enough. I think if the school is an F school, they need to move all the voucher kids somewhere else.

There was a third stud player from Redemptorist that turned out to be a bust. I can't recall him either.

I graduated from RHS in 91 and loved the school. Ton of great memories playing basketball. Very sad day, but I'd rather see the school shut down than watch it go through what was happening with the voucher program.

RIP RHS and thank you for everything you did for me.

For the record the school isn't included in the full ratings. The quote he gave was the scores for the kids at Redemptorist on voucher. They are the only ones who would have been tested. The entire student population is not included in those numbers. So basically, the kids that were there on vouchers did not improve.

I doubt many of the students stuck at Redemptorist these days would be accepted into BRH

I think from a sports perspective, St. Mike's is probably gonna benefit and maybe some of the public schools in the new school districts (Central & maybe Zachary?). Not sure about Catholic.

Of course, if the exodus from Redemptorist has been going on for awhile the befenit for these schools may have been mostly felt arleady. St. Mike's football team seems to have taken a step up.

I'll re ask here.

With enrollment down do you think the diocese will consolidate elementary schools?

Older sister graduated from their in 78. Older cousin graduated in 80. After graduating from St Anthony's in 1977 I went there from 9th to the middle of the 11th (transferred to Broadmoor - '81). Really good school. A shame it is closing down.

Zachary and Central pretty much put the final nail in their coffin years ago.

They should have been allowed to relocate, but oh well.

Yep. Once Central and Zachary peeled off, RHS' cash cow was gone. Folks in Central that wanted a good private school (years a go at least) sent their kids to RHS and not Central Private. I had many friends that went there and dated several girls there back in the day

Eta: the area around there is just awful and has been for 20+ years. It was time.
