Thanks
He actually did very well. Pitted the guys car carefully (spun him off his course) and shot the tires out to avoid chasing him anymore. The driver brought the rest on himself...

The driver was flying through Winnsboro about 100 mph, headed southbound in the wrong lane. He was trying to hit oncoming traffic, and most likely had a death wish.
The Sheriff of Franklin Parish (and a passenger) saw him doing this and pursued.
By the time the reckless driver reached the south end of town, another patrol car--who happened to be working a funeral detail in that vicinity- was waiting and engaged.
That deputy hit the reckless driver with his car, spinning him out of control for a second. That deputy then got out and shot out the tires of the dangerous car.
At this time the sheriff pulls up, and the driver tries to run him over with his car. The Sheriff and others were then forced to terminate the threat.
If this is true, good job by the po po

Sounds cut and dried. Saves taxpayers the money for a trial. Everybody wins

The second this dude hits and kills an innocent bystander, you're gonna wanna know why the cops didn't smoke that baw drivin all crazy like.
So you think it is a good idea to have cops shoot and kill people for bad driving?
Is it even possible for a cop to do wrong in your eyes?

The driver who was shot was from BR and had a history of drug use, apparently.

Yes.
Before his meltdown on Christmas eve, he had recently told his family that his radio was "talking to him."
When my relative walked up to the car, the guy was spitting up blood all over the car from shots to the lungs. My relative point blank told him "you are about to die." And then the guy died.
He had some green and a pipe on the seat by him. I'm not insinuating that weedo made him go off, but he was AT THE VERY LEAST a little stoned when he did all this.
Shitty situation all around.

Toxicology reports will most likely reveal the driver to be juiced up on some bad shite.
The end. All true. Merry Christmas.
Ps... the funeral detail was for a 3 year old boy who had wandered out of his parents house at midnight December 23. He got lost in the dark and rain, fell in a canal a couple hundred yards behind his house and drowned.
All around sad situation in Franklin parish for Christmas Eve.
Wow that's fricking all crazy. And good police work

2 posters in this thread from different sides posting "facts" as if they were involved. Why do folks repeat hearsay? Don't care if family. Haven't we seen liars from both sides enough? Were there body cams?

So, this just solidifies how bad the media sucks. After watching the Netflix: Making a Murderer, and reading how the locals believed his guilt (because of the media), and reading this and immediately thinking "How could these cops fear for their lives while pursuing someone?!"
I think we should all give up on the interwebz, go back to reading books and speaking to each other in real sentences. This instant onslaught of "facts" lends itself to some pretty ugly shite.

First of all, yes the Driver was from Baton Rouge. He moved away from BR to get sober some time around 2006. I last saw him in 2011 and he was doing really well. He was starting a crawfish business in monroe and had even created a spice that was being sold in grocery stores. For him to do what you are saying is absolutely unimaginable unless he had relapsed and had started drinking again and gotten on some sort of serious drug. Pot did not make him act that way ever. He was a great guy and had so many things going for him.

Every time I read this now it makes me think of the old South Park episode where the boys go hunting with Uncle Jimbo....
