Thanks to your brother and the rest of the FPSO. I was just through Winnsboro the day before with my family in the car.

He came from a good family, was a great athlete in school, and always had a great attitude and smile on his face. I know it's much easier for ppl to dismiss him as a drug addict who probably relapsed on christmas eve and so it's ok to kill him. That's the cool thing for the OT to do, you know, hate on people who have a flaw or aren't perfect all the time. Obviously those ppl won't be convinced otherwise, but I would testify and stand up for him on any day of the week and tell anyone that Schuylar was a great guy, one of coolest guys I ever met. What happened is absolutely crazy and out of character for him. It's so violent of a way to go out, and he was a nonviolent person. Looking at all his monroe friends posting on his page, it's obvious that these past few years he has spent mentoring those who needed help most and has made a big difference in so many lives, and I would imagine this whole thing is even harder for those kids to swallow if he was in fact in a relapse. It's a tough article to read, it was hard to read the things that you have said in these posts. It's just a horrible way to go out when he had come so far. I am not trying to make anyone sympathize, just maybe practice a little restraint and be considerate of friends and family who read this board.

yea, I had a friend murdered and this whole board speculated and said shite and my friend wasn't putting anyone at risk much less countless individuals. Good luck!

Well, from everything I've read, what other actions should the police have taken??

He may not have been a "violent" person, but if he did some bad drugs that had him acting irrationally and obviously had a deathwish at that moment, but the fact is he was putting other lives in danger. It seems obvious that this situation wasn't going to end without death, albeit him or an innocent victim....

Prayers to everyone involved

Yea its nauseating to hear honestly. BC his friends and family love him and he is usually a good person its ok for him to possibly prevent a handful of people from going home to their families.

I don't disagree that the police took the right action given the situation. It's a tragic and horrific way to die and it's incredibly hard to believe that someone like him would die like that because it's so extreme. I used to party with him, he was fun and wild but Jesus Christ, this is just outright insane.

Sorry for coming across as insensitive. I am sorry for your loss. More upsetting are the individuals whom instantly blame police everytime lethal force is used to stop an immediate threat

Man, I can look at that picture attached to the article and automatically deduce that he was a "good" guy. No doubt in my mind.

I'm sorry you and others lost a friend, family member, mentor, etc. I've said it numerous times in this thread and I'll say it again: it was truly a sad Christmas Eve in Winnsboro that day, with the funeral for the 3 year old boy and then also your buddy going down the way he did.

I personally know every single officer involved in the incident, and I can tell you for fact that they are all honest, hard working, family men who went to work on Christmas Eve with the best of intentions. They ALL were providing a service to the family members of the deceased boy when another inexplicable tragedy fell right in their laps.

I had just had coffee with my brother and wished him well, and by the time I got to my Dad's house after our visit, I was told my brother was involved in a shooting. I felt immense grief when I heard that. I was blessed to find out he hadn't been shot, but it remains still there was a huge layer of uncertainty whether he was alive or not for about a half hour.

This isn't a movie, dude. The man that pulled the trigger and killed your friend is an honest man with a clean record. He did what he had to do and will have to live with it for the rest of his life. My brother will remember looking in your friends eyes as he died for the rest of his life. These things are REAL and take their toll. Your friends relatives and friends are not the only bearers of pain here, just remember that.

I'm sorry it happened. It's not at all what anyone wanted.

I'm afraid you will be disappointed in the toxicology report, but at this point, it really doesn't matter much does it?

No it doesn't matter, the toxicology report isn't going to bring him back. I'm afraid everyone will be disappointed in the toxicology report. I'm thinking something like spice or bath salts or meth bc of how crazy this whole thing played out. Makes no sense to drive home to BR for the holidays, wrap presents, go to bed, wake up early get in mom's car and drive back up north going 90 to nothing....for what? Did he talk to someone in BR that night and decided to relapse, then decided to drive back up north and say frick christmas, frick everybody.

Exactly, man. Nobody in their "right mind" would be so reckless. I'm not one to hate on drugs, they can be used responsibly and lead to good times and amazing thoughts and creativity... But they aren't good for everyone, and are downright debilitating for some. Unfortunately it seems your buddy was the type of person whose mental clarity was crippled by narcotics. Really does seem the case in this instance, but the report will make that determination.

I speak not poorly of the dead, and I wish eternal peace on your friend.
