A Franklin Parish sheriff’s deputy pursuing a reckless driver Thursday morning on U.S. 425 south of Winnsboro shot and killed the man, according to State Police, which is investigating the incident.

State Police spokesman Michael Reichardt said deputies were pursuing the reckless driver around 10:30 a.m. and “at some point during the pursuit the deputies feared for their lives and fired at the vehicle.”

The man driving the vehicle was struck, and died at the scene, Reichardt said. No one else was in the vehicle, he said.

State Police are leading the investigation and do not plan on releasing the driver’s identity before Monday, Reichardt said. He would not disclose where the driver was from.

He said he did not have information about the number of officers at the scene when the driver was shot.

Good.
Still can't figure out why neither my family or no family I know of in any way has not had a bad experience with a police officer.

I haven't had a speeding ticket since 1998.

Harder to hit than you think, especially from behind.

Been waiting to see if this thread popped up. The guy was an old friend of the family. From what I understand there is a lot more to this.

Let's see how it turns out.

If they were driving recklessly and refusing to follow police instruction to pull over...I'm fine with them stopping him permanently.

If he wasn't driving recklessly and refusing to follow police instruction, well then the officers are ones who need to be prevented from doing so ever again.

You're good with reckless driving being a capital offense, and the the cops being judge, jury, and executioner?

We have a term for people like you. "fricking idiot."

The moron who drove onto the sidewalks in Vegas turning people into bowling pins was "reckless driving". Would you have been fine with some cop offing her before the second time she did and killed someone?

Cars are lethal weapons as much as any other in the right circumstance, or the wrong one as the case may be.

Someone has to make the call, did they make the right one, or not. That's what we have to wait and see about.

The cops were in pursuit, how did they fear for their lives?

Love to see all the people in this thread supporting murder by cops.
