Energy is neither created nor destroyed. Religious or not, all we are is energy and that energy has to go somewhere.

Im not religious per say, but definitely believe in some form of an afterlife. Pretty cool that they've all shown up for you like that in a dream.

My dad past 10 years ago and I still have dreams with him in them. Most of them has him inserted in current life situations I'm going through as if he never past.

That's an incredible coincidence that your sister dreamed the same thing the same night. I'm not a big believer in coincidences of that magnitude. So yeah, I think it was a religious thing.

I've had these kinds of dreams before. I think it's mostly remembrance or subconscious longing for the company of someone you lost. If it's something else, that's cool too.

I lost my best friend and had a vivid dream with her about a week later. Got to tell her everything on my mind and then she gave me her sisters hand and told me to look after her. To this day it's the only dream I've ever had that felt real.

Read The First Phone Call from Heaven- Mitch Albom.

It's fiction but came out a month or so after my brother died so I enjoyed it.

I see him and both of my parents, the three of which I have lost in the last three years, quite often in my dreams and it's always a pleasant experience. Sometimes when we were young and sometimes as we were older. I enjoy those random dreams and also the memories. All of them are always with us somehow and that's comforting. I had all three of them for close to fifty years which is one of gods greatest gifts and earthly blessings - that of a family complete. Enjoy and embrace those moments because it is what allows us to get up in the mornings and live on.

Mine will be gone 10 years next week. Still feels like it was last week. I still have those dreams. and I too still love those nights. It's weird bc there is actual communication there...even though I know it's all prob just subconscious nothingness I wake up sad at first then happy about it

I totally started bawling while reading this. I lost my baby to SIDS when he was 6 months old and had something similar happen warning me of what was to come. It made little sense at the time, but the meaning of what the person in the dream was telling me was crystal clear when Kyle died.

She told me about the dream right away and told me something bad was going to happen. I chalked it up to being hormonal and nervous about her first pregnancy. I still feel bad for not taking it seriously. Sorry about your loss. It's been 13 years since we lost Brandon. Time doesn't heal , seems to get worse as milestones pass.

I know mine are ok. My father always said as long as wherever he was going had cold beer he was fine. And he has my brother to drink with. My mother said she made all of us and our friends so many sandwiches she assumed God would have her making sandwiches. So I envision her doing that with a smile while wiping her hair from her face with the back of her hand.

Coincidentally I dreamed about my deceased father last night. He and my mother, who is still alive, came to visit and he just walked around never saying anything, but smiled.
I haven't dreamed about my father in forever, and he passed away 5 years ago.

Martini, I'm happy you are at peace with your situation. I hope I can get there someday.

I'm not, one of my siblings did themself in (as they say) in 2004 and their spouse did the same thing to themself last week. Just Terrible. Eleven years of inconsolable grief and now a surgeon gone from society.

Sorry about yours as well. It's a pain that most will never know, thankfully. And yes, time does not heal. I've learned how to deal with it for the most part but I will never, ever heal from losing him. His birthday and his death date are almost my undoing every single year. It never gets easier.

When I was 27, my 37 year old brother died unexpectedly in July. My sister (one of five) called in late September to wish me a belated happy birthday, and we go to talking about him. I said I had a freakish dream the other night in which he was sitting on the edge of my bed, looking at me intently, and then we were in a bright hallway with tiled walls that smelled like chlorine. She said "That's the hallway from the high school gym." I went cold- it was. "Then we were on the bleachers" (identical to my dream).
We exchanged more vaugue details, and she asked "was his hair white?" (it was- but was black in life) and by now I'm hyperventilating, and asked her what time she woke up? She said 3:19 AM. My clock, 300 miles away, read 3:20 AM when I woke up that night. Bowled me over, but at the same time, I was overcome with calm.

My mother passed in 1997, and now my dad, and these dreams/memories/subconscious events help!

Every time I have lost someone close to me they appear to me in a vivid dream. My grandma appeared to me looking younger and healthy (she died when she was 95). It happens every time and they always say they are fine and will see me again someday. That shite is real.

Definetly the birthdays, holidays are painful. I had to make a thread late at night last year on his birthday just to vent. I was on the edge of letting the pain do me in. Sometimes the OT will surprise you with understanding and compassion .If you ever need to vent I'm always on one of the OTs.
