I still have both of my parents, but one of my best friends (college roommate, etc) took his own life about 25 years ago. I don't know if it was the suicide thing or not, but I had vivid dreams of him for months afterward.

quote:

Dreams come from the subconscious void. Which is basically your connection to infinite intelligence. It is your connection to the dimension your consiousness will experience after death and which it experienced prior to birth. True reality. The third dimension of time and space which you inhabit in your physical body is not ultimate reality. The dream dimension, the Fourth/Fifth dimension is the dimension of reality that people who have had NDE's describe. It is the realm your loved ones inhabit when they die so it makes sense that they connect with and communicate with you in the dream state.

This is spot on.

As to the OP, let me ask you something. When you had these 'dreams', did it feel normal or did you feel like you were actually there with your relatives? As if your soul was there.

The reason I ask is that about three months after my dad died, one night I was sleeping. All of a sudden, I was somewhere else. I knew it wasn't a dream because I was aware of my body and was completely in the moment. It was totally unlike any dream I've ever had. The only other time I felt that way was years before when I had a near death experience.

My father and I had been really close, and I took care of him the last year of his life. When he died, I was doing recovery work in New Orleans. He had been in and out of the hospital, and one Sunday as I was working I got a call from one of his friends telling me he was back in the hospital and and it didn't look good. I hauled arse to the hospital as quick as I could and even though it was after visiting hours in the ICU they let me see him. He was in good spirits, sitting up in eating a bowl of fruit. We talked for a minute but he saw how exhausted I was and told me to go home and come back tomorrow. I'd been working 16 and 17 hour days for months on end, so I said I'd be back at the first time they let visitors in the following day.

Well, the next day came and I just could not get up in time. I was just beat all to hell and back. So I thought I'll just make the second visiting window, got ready and left. I was halfway there when one of my cousins told me dad had passed away just a little while before. Goddamn, but I felt so guilty about not being there for him. It really hurt, like nothing I'd ever experienced before.

The night I had my experience, I found myself walking through a crowd. It was as real as if I was walking through the mall. I could tell that this was something more than a dream. My soul and conscious was there. I remember I had a feeling that I was looking for something. After a minute or so I saw my dad. We embraced for a long time. and unlike a dream, I could physically feel his arms around me. We didn't really talk like living people do, but we did converse. It was like we could feel what the other was trying to say.

He told me he was o.k. and that he was going to be alright. He'd made some friends and was happy. I got to tell him I loved him one more time and how bad I felt for not being there before he died. He put my mind at peace and lifted that guilt from me.

After a bit, he said he had to go, and we broke our embrace and he melted into the crowd. I wanted to keep up with him but my mind got cloudy and I couldn't tell where I was suppossed to go. After a few moments, I woke up. I instantly bolted up, kinda freaked out but also really happy. I knew right away it wasn't a dream. No dream had ever felt like that, before or since. I just sat there on the edge of the bed trying to make sure I remembered as much of it as possible. And it is something I'll never forget as long as I live.

I'm not Christian, nor do I follow any organized religion. But I've never been an atheist either. I've always kept an open mind. The closest thing I can compare the place my dad was would be something like the Catholic concept of purgatory. Most people thing purgatory is something bad but it's not necessarily. And the concept of it is something a lot of religions share by different names.

Weird. My dad passed away in the 70s when I was a kid and I dreamed about him a few nights ago. He had long hair and a pony tail in the dream (crewcut IRL), but his face was just like I remembered. Very strange. It was a long dream, but I cant remember what it was actually about . what does it mean.....?????

Everyone grieves differently. Some of my other siblings have taken it harder but I have to look at it my way and I have always been a glass half full guy. I live my life like that in every aspect and for me it is a benefit. A great benefit. I have bad days and I shed tears but I also laugh my arse off at things they or we all did and those are great thoughts and feelings.

I'm sorry for your losses and for everyone in this thread, as we all can see, none of us are immune to tragedy and god doesn't discriminate. And no, time does not heal. Time just gets you more time.

Take solace in knowing whatever circumstances led to our loved ones being taken from us, that they truly are at peace and we all have been blessed by gods wonderful grace of having them in our lives for whatever duration that may have been.

God has blessed us all and I truly believe that. I hope one day you will be able to look out and have clear vision and be at peace with yourself. That is what matters most. We live for our lost but we live for ourselves. I mean that with all sincerity. Godspeed my friend.

I had two very similar experiences when my dad died 6 months ago. Idk if they were actually him or just my brain working, but they were the most vivid, real dreams of my life. One was exactly one week after he died, around the same time. The 2nd was exactly two weeks later, again at the same time he died. I remember waking up and checking the clock both times at 3 am.

It doesn't really matter to me whether they were real or not. They helped me heal and feel better, knowing he wasn't suffering anymore. It's still hard to think about, but I know the feeling you're having. Prayers for you and your family

Sayre: (I won't copy your thoughtful account here).

To answer your question- yes, my physical senses were enhanced during this dream; last night, an angry family member punched each of us (7 children- all in their 50s-60s now) in them arm and it hurt! When I awoke, I rubbed my shoulder but there was no pain.

My mom died in 96 from cancer. I was at her bedside when she drew her final breath. I have had several dreams over the years of her just showing up one day and not saying much to me and my siblings who were also with me in the same location. The overwhelming sentiment among us was that she had somehow and for some reason faked her death. We question her. Why did you fake your death? Where have you been all these years? She always seems happy but remains quiet. She has a sweet demeanor and just looks at me with a smile and loving eyes.

As an aside, her faith in God grew as her own strength weakened that last year. She was at peace that she was going to soon be in another realm/ dimension. During her final hours , she was in and out of awareness due to the morphine she was having pumped into her body. I was sitting by her bed while she was asleep when I heard her say "you are beautiful." I looked up at her face and her eyes were wide open and staring off to the side. I caressed her hand and asked her who she was speaking to in a sweet way. always trying to be the funny guy, I told her that I know I am good looking but wouldn't go that far. She said, "Do you see it?" I said "See what?" "The Angel. Do you see the angel beside me?" I was overwhelmed bit didn't want to answer that I didn't see anything. I just said " Is the Angel beside you beautiful?" She stared about 20 more seconds and drifted back to sleep. She died 2 hours later.

we are spiritual beings in flesh bodies.

there was a war in heaven, and we are here to choose

good or evil

we are in the 2nd earth age, there is yet one more to come.

believe it, or not...

mom would tell me, her sister heard a knock[s] on the door...next day, a cousin or someone close died.

my father seen strangers in the house prior to him passing.

I can see how many people feel comforted by these dreams. My experience is a little different however. When I dream of my dad, who died in a car accident a couple of years ago, more often than not he's alive and I had simply had a bad dream he died. It's so wonderful until I wake up and realize he really did die and it's almost like losing him again. I find it to be the exact opposite of healing. It's like ripping the scab off every time.

Rant fan or Carolina girl
Y'all don't have to answer this if you don't want to, but does your child ever appear in y'all's dream?

If so are they 'at peace?'

Slightly off topic but I will never forget my senior year in high school. My iPod got stolen out of my backpack in the last period. I suspected someone but couldn't prove they took it. That night I dreamed that person had took it and hidden it behind some books near the teachers desk. When I got to school that morning I went to check behind the shelf and there it was.

It was really weird.

I've had dreams twice, that included my late son. We communicated in the first dream, but it was not by speaking. He asked me what I was what I was up to and wanted to know about a project I was working on. The second dream included him and my late mother, walking arm in arm. In that dream there was no communication. I have had other non dream events that I call visits or signs. I keep a journal of all of these events. I believe there is something on the other side of that door.

This, my brother died over 5yrs ago, and I love the nights when he's in my dreams. But very sad when I wake up. I really just want to stay in those moments.

I have had two of those since my Dad passed 2 years ago. They were the realest dreams that I have ever experienced.

The dead don't speak verbally. They speak to your heart. It is a spiritual language. You are a spiritual person. The spiritually dead, don't have the same experiences.

No but I see a part of him in his three younger siblings so I understand what he went through he did so his siblings can live. To tell you the truth I have a hard time sleeping a lot because I see him in his last seconds trying to fight to live after he was taken off of life support. The memory of those few seconds haunt me.
