I don’t want my kids to grow up not knowing their cousins or seeing grandparents twice a year.
100% this
also, my friends that have moved away, seem pretty bitter that they don't get to travel as much as they would like since they spend most of their vacation time traveling back home

Education. People with at least an 8th grade education stand a better than average chance of being the smartest person in the room in any given situation.

Most states have better hunting than us. Including the entire world would be embarrassing
The hunting sucks in Louisiana

I live in Bossier Cty and never give Shreveport a second thought when it comes to violent crimes. Those for the most part are just like any other city, confined to neighborhoods.

Or Arkansas or Oklahoma...I can name several states that have better hunting than Louisiana

It was just one example...

This is me currently but since we live in a warmer area they tend to travel to see us often so it evens out a little better.

I may be wrong but I think I'd be happy living in Louisiana.
The best part about Louisiana is that even if you were Loon cricket ( on either end of the political Spectrum) we'd still invite you to dinner.

Music. I know you can listen to music anywhere, but I love listening to live music. Louisiana home-grown music is unbeatable compared to other states, whether it be jazz, brass band, cajun/zydeco, funk, Jazz Fest, Festival International, French Quarter Fest, etc.

Never lived in Louisiana but, assuming a decent job is locked down, I think it'd be a pretty decent place to live.
From the outside looking in, top 3 things for me:
1. Food. LA is the one state that truly has its own cuisine. Everybody and their brother has some good family recipe. I love reading about some of the small stores around the state selling boudin, smoked sausages, etc. The seafood is tops. You've got crawfish in abundance with a bunch of people who know how the hell to cook them. I'd gain a lot of weight living in LA.
2. Culture. Most everyone I've met from LA have been incredibly friendly and charismatic. The accents, the wit, the stories...just cool, wholesome people. It's not a wealthy state, never has been, and I think that lot in life leads to a more, eh, honest (?) people....not wholesome, just more upfront people, if that makes sense. Also, y'all love to party.
3. Cost of living leads to what I sense are nice, strong, peaceful communities where even middle class folks can live a pretty damn solid lifestyle. If you're a bit more fortunate in life and are a bit higher on the income scale, all the better.

I hunt with a few guys in Kansas who make it a point to come down here every year and hunt. Different kind of hunting.
Deer down here act differently with smells and calls.
The first time I lit a cigar in a blind, poor guys almost lost it.
10 minutes later bucks come rolling in to see what's up.
Rattle horns around the house amd they run like hell away. In Kansas I rattle and they stroll over.
