Waisting your time brother, most of the OT lives in 1960-1980 ranch style homes that are under 2000sf and berate and look down on people who build "Mcmansions" which is essentially anything new in architectural style.

My house is a 2500 sq ft ranch. Thank you very much.

It doesn't bother you that those wood paneled 1800 sq ft ranch homes are valued for the same/more than your 4500 sq ft house with the big treeless yard and soon-to-be-repoed wave runner out front?

Yes that's what's happening. Are you even remotely familiar with real estate prices in the south? And I'm not really stereotyping, most house in south Louisiana are ranch style built into he 60s-90s. Most housing after about 2000 is what most on here consider a Mcmansion.

And yes I have wave runner being repoed, idiot

mean, I don't really believe this shite but if we're doing stereotypes let's fricking do them right

Have no problem saying I prefer a Craftsman style or some other style but it does get annoying the hate for any type of new style.

I wasn't really addressing that. Many times that's gonna be determined by age and lifestyle. I was speaking more about dumbasses always saying how they hate Mcmansions while living in a 1960 style 1700 sf ranch house in small town south Louisiana.

That's fine, I grew up in one, but I sure as hell didn't look down on those building what most here consider a Mcmansion.

It's cool to not like the look of some but most here act like everything is a Dr Horton home.

Or in other words: what's around me. It's all my zip code.

I'm sure all your stuff is literally 5 minutes or less walking.

It's the only unassailable edge to nicer suburbs vs. cities in my opinion. That said, in plenty of cities, depending on neighborhood, you're largely isolated from any serious crime. But in places like Atlanta that's not true.

Of course, in many southern cities the suburbs can have considerable crime too, so the pro-suburb advantage isn't quite as high.

Yes it's funny because if you listened to the guys on this board, you would think they all loved in these badass Craftsman style or sprawling mansion when the fact is the stats show that's complete and utter bullshite.

I don't like houses in subdivisions that are all the same, but I'm not gonna lump them all in as Mcmansions.

But I was really addressing the hate of someone building a house that isn't a single or double pitch. God forbid if spending 500k plus that you spend a little extra to make it look more grand.

Might not be relevant but I would t be clowning on people for their financial decisions if I rented my home.

I hate McMansions, but live in one. It’s quite the paradox.

I lol'd daily at the sucker who paid 650k for the ~2000 sqft shotgun double-turned-single across the street from the last place I rented.

I thoroughly enjoyed living there, but paying those prices for those properties?
