People are moving off of my street in droves. Several were impacted by the flood or it was a close call. I had water in front of the house but it did not touch my property. Our homes that did not flood have gone up in value by about 20k since last August. My neighbor informed me yesterday that he's looking and is putting home on market. He purchased the house 3 years ago right after I did.

If you were me, would you hold -- and hope to get a bit more equity? Or sell too?

I live in Shenandoah,(no flood zone) just in case anyone is curious.

Where are you going to buy? The other houses have increased as well.

Exactly.

The cost of building is nuts.

I've told the husband the exact same thing, unfortunately the market is over priced because of the flood. If I leave, I am leaving LA

We're thinking the same.

Neighbor of ours is selling their house for $25k more than it was bought for because it didn't flood. (Off Hoo Shoo Too and Elliot)

I doubt he'll be able to but who knows.

Well, I guess we will see if the Hoo shoo too house goes for the asking price. Several on my block are just sitting there waiting for an offer. ( They are on the side that flooded.)

What yr was it built? I ask cause it could be valued more due to increase in cost to build.

If I have a choice, buy a house that has never flooded vs one that has flooded, even if only a "little" Real Estates Agents are legalized prostitution, I buy the house that has not flooded.

NO way I would ever buy a house that flooded.

I've helped several friends sell and build since the flood in that area. I'd recommend fsbo because they're moving. In Shenandoah I'd sell at top market if the home is updated. If not list it accordingly.

Sell now but not because of the flood. Lower income family are moving into the area with zero percent down. Not to mention I hear the traffic is horrible five days a week from a coworker who lives over there.

Get out of there before your home's value drops so much you're stuck
