The situation that led to me not using a turn signal aside, the fees for failure to use a turn signal in Rapids parish seem pretty incredible. The fine runs you $139 in East Baton Rouge Parish. And runs to about $215 and Rapides Parish.

They charge you $140 for not signaling?

This "public safety" facade has to stop

Don’t do the crime if you can’t pay the fine

Let's just make the fine $1M then?

Drivers who don't use turn signals are inconsiderate buttholes.

This seems like common sense to me. Do you need someone to spell it out for you?

At least it’s a legit reason for a citation. I read somewhere that you can get cited for having a dirty windshield somewhere in Texas

Weaving in and out of traffic, yes.

Changing lanes when there's no one around, then no.

I agree. I am typically adamant about it for myself and others. Make no mistake about it - I broke the law.

That being said - context is important. It was nighttime and I was on a country road. There were no cars behind me. An 18 wheeler had its emergency lights on in front of me at a four-way stop. I sat there for a few seconds in case he moved. I then realized he wasn’t going to and was just about to start to pull around him when he started pulling forward. So stayed behind him and proceeded to make the right turn right there.

Again. Should have still out on the blinker. That’s not my comment. My comment is just that the fine seems quite high compared to other towns.

Obviously it is not a high enough fine as you decided to do it anyway.

Rapides Parish traffic is not OOC and they aim to keep it that way.

A citation? Oh, that's serious. Five citations, and you're looking at a violation. Four of those, and you'll receive a verbal warning. Keep it up, and you're looking at a written warning. Two of those, that will land you in a world of hurt, in the form of a disciplinary review, written up by me, and placed on the desk of my immediate superior.

That's just the excuse the cop pulled you over for. The more important factor was that he thought probably thought you looked like a drughead.

"Administrative fees".

I think the actual fine is around $50.

My company received a citation from iberville parish on lack of insurance information and thus a ticket from a camera. They called iberville parish and asked them what the hell.

Just tell the Judge that you are going to pay the fine, BUT, you are going to film him driving to see if he follows the law exactly as written.
