There are no other major cities in Louisiana. Simple question.

As an outsider looking in... Shreveport must be a shite hole.

I've lived in all of the bolded cities for at least over a year. I moved to The Woodlands, TX this year and I can say that this is at least several times better than any of the above Louisiana cities. Only thing I miss is the large number of good restaurants to choose from in New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

It's not that bad. It's just the biggest city in North Louisiana, and catches a lot of hate because of that from South Louisianians who are anti-anything to do with North Louisiana.
North and South Louisiana used to be very much two different states, and there was a lot of rivalry, even hostility. The North has let that go for the most part-you rarely hear people say anything negative about S. La. But a lot of people in S. La still don't like North La As you can see in this thread.

If you only knew...
New Orleans, Lafayette, and Baton Rouge are the only cities I'd consider living in here in Louisiana, and it would take a lot for me to leave New Orleans for the other two.

Better question would be what city/town in Louisiana would you like to live in. My first pick would be St. Francisville.

Where did you live in New Orleans?

Close, I lived in Old Metairie. I worked in New Orleans though. Did this for two years.
