The only things I don't like about Houston are the traffic and that they apparently don't zone anything.

One thing that most don't consider would be how good MODOT is with roads in Missouri and completion of projects.

That actually puts Missouri high for me

Mississippi - shithole, self explanatory

MS has to be the top, although I have not been or lived in a lot of other states.

Among many other problems, Mississippi is... Static very little change or advancement taking place. Everything- politically, professionally, technologically- is status quo, Mississippians seem to just accept their place in life like a bunch of zombies.

Mississippi is doing its best this legislative session to get shittier. That ranking that came out that Louisiana was the worst state seems to have our legislature up in arms.

If you took Madison/Rankin, the Coast, Tupelo/Oxford and the Pine Belt out of Mississippi, it would be a third world country.

True.

There was an hour of debate on the floor of the Senate yesterday about making some process electronic instead of paper based. It passed, but barely

Just an all around ugly state

I'm so glad the Rankin County school bond proposal passed last night.

Say what y'all want, but SC is a pretty damn good place to be. From Columbia, I can hop in a car and be in Charleston in an hour and a half, enjoying one of the best coastal cities in the US. I can head up I-26 and be in the mountains in 2 hours. The roads are shitty and there is the blight of Myrtle Beach but, all that aside, I love South Carolina.

The top 4 are too personal preference-based.

If you really want an all around #1, it's obviously Texas.

Florida has beautiful parts, redneck parts, etc. It also has perhaps the biggest collection of awful people and batshit nutjobs in the country. A lot of people in the Southeast love visiting FL, have familiarity with the state and wouldn't live there. One of the problems is that most of the significant cities are pretty widely seen as awful by Southerners (Jacksonville, Miami, Tally, Orlando).

Tennessee lacks the economic might of the other three states, but it has several distinct livable areas and has the best topography.

Georgia has the best economy outside of Texas, and has the best geographic diversity (coastline, mountains, tree-filled Atlanta). It doesn't have the tax advantages of Texas, has pretty much one economic driver (Atlanta), and has crime/governance issues.

Texas is the most dull of the four states, but has the best economy and has numerous livable areas. It's hot as shite, has ugly cities, but is a very decent place to live. Better governance than GA.

1. Mississippi - Who wants to live in Ms besides someone from Ms

2. Kentucky - nothing to offer too much snow

3. Alabama - lol

4. Arkansas - Land locked nothing to offer besides nature walks

5. Missouri -nothing to offer too much snow even STL sucks

6. South Carolina - atleast it ain't MS, AL, Ark, Mizzou

7. Georgia - Wouldn't mind area surrounding ATL not strong market for my field 3 major sports teams

8. Florida - beaches bitches sand

9. Texas- cool

11. Tennessee - wife is from TN

12. Louisiana - Call me a homer all you want. I am from here I have spent time in other places, nothing compares to Louisiana. Where else can you go fishing catch load specs that morning. Go to the best best SEC tailgate in the afternoon/evening and watch LSU (college football team)play. All in the same day? Then cap the weekend off by going to church in the morning then watch the Saints in the dome.

Greenville and Charleston markets are booming, which is great for my business. Columbia is definitely lagging behind and you can thank an extremely corrupt local government for padding the pockets of their friends and themselves instead of really improving the infrastructure and business climate. Haley wasn't a perfect governor but she really recruited some damn good companies to move in to SC.
