Hagerty on Youtube
Porsche GT3RS rear engine 4L N/A 518hp 342 pound ft 3211# 7 spd PDK Weissach package Michelin Cup 2R
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 mid engine 5.5L N/A 670hp 460 pound ft 3670# 8 spd DCT Z07 package Michelin Cup 2R
BMW M4CSL front engine 3L twin turbo 543hp 479 pound ft 3580# 8 spd auto Pilot Sport 4S BMW couldn't source the Cup 2Rs which are an optional tire.
Note it was cold and Willow Springs is above 2,500' in altitude so both the Porsche and Vette would be faster in better conditions, the BMW less so.
Times:
GT3RS 124.3
Vette 124.9
M4 128.2
M4 fast for a coupe with little aero, Z06 fast for the money, and the GT3RS proves light weight, chassis, aero, and binders beat grunt on the track. The biggest surprise to me was the unruliness of the Z06 at the limit but no surprise the GT3RS was stuck like glue and well-mannered.

GT3RS 124.3 ~$250k
Vette 124.9 ~$106k
M4CSL 128.2 ~$140k
The C8 ZO6 is by far the best bang for the buck.

M4 GT3 is currently leading the 24h Nürburgring with two hours to go.
ETA: Ferrari 296 just retook the lead.

Hagerty and Jason Camissa make some of the best auto content out there. The production level is off the charts. That’s beyond Top Gear quality.

Would kill myself on that track in any of the three. Would not end well.

Yep, the #30 Ferrari is back in front but the question is if they can finish with just one more pit stop where the 98 BMW almost certainly can. Will be an interesting last 2 hours.
The SP10 class is closer with an M4 leading a Supra by just a few seconds.

You won’t get a Z06 for $106k

Great win for the brand new Ferrari 296 GT3, the first time in over 20 years that a non-German car has won. A new distance record set as well, 162 laps. The M4 GT3 has come a long way since its introduction last year, it was horrible.

quote:you won’t find a C8 z06 for that price. Dealer mark up is at least 50k. Some dealers will lure you in by posting them for msrp and then pulling the switch-a-roo.
The C8 ZO6 is by far the best bang for the buck.
Some dealers are charging 20k non refundable deposits with the hopes of getting allocated a z06 build within the next 2 years, and then charging an extra 50k on top once the build is confirmed

I’m impressed with the Z06 times. Can’t wait to see a ZR1 model that I won’t be able to get my hands on either lol.

Even the straight-up spec sheet for a Z06 w/Z07 is going to be in the $165k range but the average spec for a GT3RS is probably going to hover over $300k. That is neither here nor there because you are not going to buy any one of the three at list unless you got an allocation as a VVIP of the dealer and they are just giving you a present.
Figure at least $200k for the Z06 and well over that for a Z07 and $400k for a GT3RS. The CSL is only seeing about a 10K markup.

Neat video, liked how they stopped at times to explain each cars dynamics when taking key turns on the track. Excellent production quality and narration.
Pro drivers are in another Universe compared to my skill level.
Fun to watch.

Had the opportunity to meet Porsche CEO Kjell Gruner a few weeks ago and he was in the new GT3RS in the white and green heritage spec. The aero on that car is insane. Need multiple layers of PPF to protect the doors from rocks spitting off the front tires. It has a massive gap with front aero behind the front wheels that exposes the side of the car to the super sticky tires.

Saw a couple beautiful GT3s at NOLA’s track day Friday.
There was a shark blue one there too.
If I had unlimited fundage, a GT3 RS is definitely the way I’d go. Haven’t tracked my C8 yet - the track prep requirements are ridiculous and disappointing. I kinda miss my Mach 1.
