This latest argument reminds me of the idiot last week who was triggered when I posted that dealers will show you their dealer invoice on a vehicle if you ask to see it because dealer invoice is not their true cost.
Actually there were a few such posters.
How much do they usually pay below invoice on trucks?
When is the best time to buy a 2017 model? I would imagine last week of December is good.

No one cares. All we want is the lowest price possible. If that means you have to take a loss so you can revert back to one then so be it.
Wasn't asking for your empathy, Just stating a fact. I know you can't afford something nice without huge discounts.

. When I looked last summer, the salesman immediately took about $8k off the sticker of an XLT without me even trying to haggle.

I own a Ram and will probably buy another one. People have this stigma that Ram is junk. They have the best ride and the most bang for the buck. The downside is the resale, but I think the initial purchase offsets that. You'll get a better resale out of the Tundra, but you also pay more upfront.

I audited dealerships as well. They will not make one move that loses them money. They actually make more by “taking a loss” to meet sales quotas
How is this possible? Doesn't this imply the manufacturers will then lose money? Where does the manufacturer make a profit?

Just scored 2017 Nissan Titan Diesel 4x4 at Giles in Lafayette and it comes with a lifetime power train warranty,,,,,let’s see any dealership top that warranty, or price for a 4x4 Diesel
I'm interested to see how badly the EPA garbage affects these new, small diesels.
I hate the EPA.

Volume bonuses from the manufacturer will offset losses on the front end. Back end financing and warranties make money. Used cars have a higher profit margin. The parts, sales and body shop turns out a ridiculous profit margin.
The front end makes pennies compared to the rest on a sale.

Do your research, 12,300 towing capacity, just pulled 43hp tractor on a double axle car hauler and got 14mpg

My last 2 trucks have been Rams and they've been great vehicles.

How much did you end up spending?

I bet you paid through the nose.

How does this affect the customer that can come in and buy with cash? Or does it?

Congrats. I love my Tundra. The newer Rams, with the dual pipes, do catch my eye though.

The manufacturer marks up the vehicles to the dealership a lot. Then there’s financing, etc.
The whole process is made to be as convoluted as possible so you don’t know if they really screwed you.
It’s why they won’t correct you when you walk in and say you’re paying cash so you should get the best deal. They don’t want you to pay cash
