Looking to live out of a van. For a bit. Travel around.
Have any of the OTers using these rigs and which one would be the better.

They're listed on Car Gurus by the dozens. I'd probably opt for the Ram PM 3500 high roof. Dallas area (and large cities) have tons at pretty good prices and mileage.
Been looking around for a bit because I may do a side gig in medical courier transport in my downtime. You could use the van on the road like that all over the country and bank, no question.

We have a lot of the AWD transit vans and they are awesome. I want one.

Get an Isuzu NPR box truck and turn it into a camper.

You should reach out to Moxxie Van Company in Chattanooga. They do a lot of custom vans for people and they have seen many Promasters and Transits come through their shop. A lot of things that aren’t ideal with them compared to the Mercedes Sprinter which is ideal.
They’re good people and are small so they’re down-to-earth and quick to respond.

That sounds expensive.

I used ponder the logistics of getting snowed in for the winter at a Colorado ski resort. Not sure if they are ok with that anymore or if they were ever really all that cool with it.
They’re selling the amazon hi roof delivery vans around here for what seems like a reasonable price.
Amazon has a diesel powered heater on sale for a hundo. It comes with everything you would need minus the fuel and installation. Vevor brand. Says it heats 269 square feet overnight on 1 gallon of diesel.

I sapend a lot of time in a 2016 Promaster 2500 high roof. Never been in a Ford.
That wee of vans use the Penestar V6 with the lifter issue. Around 100,000 miles, we had to have the heads rebuilt. Transmission failed anout a month ago with 190,000 miles.
Other than that, it has been a great vehicle. Rides absolutely great and it does not matter if it is empty or loaded down with 3,000 pounds in the back. Smooth ride and is the sharpest turning vehicle I have ever been in.
Only complaint with ours is due to the wall behind our seats. Prevents you from tikting the seats back. But that would be with any van.
Gas mileage is good. Tires last a long time. A/C works great.

Ah for sure but you can just say you’re looking to choose between the two and you’d really value their opinion since they have experience doing.
They sale a lot of van accessories so they’d be inclined to help you out in case you come back later on as a customer for their accessories

driver seating position in the Ram Promaster is awful. Plus only FWD.
Transit is superior in every way, plus can be had in AWD. Much better platform.

The Trannys are an issue in the dodges.
But people love them.

We put ours though hell and it lasted till almost 200,000 miles so cant complain there.
Again, I never sat in or drove the Ford but I see alot of them on the road. I would go try each one and see which is more comfortable. I dont drive ours much but when I do, I dont have any issues with the seat.
The Ford AWD might come in handy in the snow and dirt roads.
