After nearly 20 years and 250 locations, Raising Cane’s has finally made the leap overseas with the first international store. London? Tokyo? Paris? Nope, it’s in Kuwait City, the capital of Kuwait.

Thanks to Todd Graves’ partnership with M. H. Alshaya Co.—the company that brought brands like H&M, Williams-Sonoma and Starbucks to the global scale—the first international Cane’s location opened in September and has already started building a loyal following in Kuwait City.

Of course, plenty of research and adjustments went into adapting our hometown brand to the Middle East. Graves got personally involved in research and planning for the new location and sent 15 restaurant leads and trainers to Kuwait to prepare the store and its team to carry on the Cane’s name.

Most importantly, Graves and his team focused on making the classic Cane’s menu halal-friendly—meaning that every part of the food’s ingredients, preparation, storage and service must be in accordance with Islamic law. The attention to detail has paid off, going by the warm reception from Kuwait’s heavily Muslim population.

Will Raising Canes ever be able to recapture the glory days of circa early-to-mid 2000s? I hear it has gone down hill over the years.

The 'heyday' was 95-99. Has been downhill for years now. Their portions and what you pay for are an abomination.

Should be between $5-6. 3 pieces of chicken. Shouldn't be 7.

So tired of hearing this. If they really kept getting smaller every year as people claim they would be smaller than Chickfila nuggets by now.

Went to Cane's last week and got a ton of food for the money.

Bush's Chicken is by far the GOAT. Only really available in Central Texas. Will eat Bush's over literally any other chicken place this world has to offer.

It's not 1995 anymore. The average lunch is around $10.

Define "average lunch"? I can go to wal mart or Albertson's and get a whole rotisserie chicken for $6.00. That's a whole chicken. I can go to target and get some sushi rolls for $7. Chick fil a chicken meal with a drink is less than 8.00 with tax.

Did they have to give up the pictures of Cane in shades and discard him as a mascot to be Muslim-friendly? Maybe they switched to a camel or something.
