The thread isn't so much about the complaint of receiving a ticket as it is more an inquiry regarding the method of how I got the ticket. I don't recall denying that I sped.

You don't have someone that can get it fixed? Going to traffic court just sounds like a pain in the arse

I go 68 in 60s all the time, and generally feel it's in the safe zone. 67, 68. I feel like at 71 I'd get pulled over. I don't see any reason to change your speed, it was just bad luck...or the cop though you were cute and wanted to see if being a dick to you made up for cute girls making fun of him in high school.

It would be a PITA. I know people who could help me, but wanted to check here regarding the method of pacing. I drive about 5k miles/month so I need to know of every way I can possibly get in trouble. Pacing was a new one for me.

Same. Which is why I didn't pay much attention to him until he pulled me over.

I don't know what's the big deal these days with the address on your license. In lafourche they are sticklers about this. Got a misdemeanor for public urination and open container. My address on my license still says Kenner. Yet I live in Schriever. Ole baw was trying to slap me with extra charges. Fishing down in PAC on Sunday. Wildlife does a routine stop. Of course my fishing license has the same address as my drivers. Tells me I can call up and change it. Who gives a frick!?

It's the government wanting to know where you live so if they need to arrest you or whatever, they can find you.

There is no passing lane in the city limits.

I think you're supposed to have 30 days to change your license when you move

Unless you're an enrolled college student. Then you get a pass.

How do they know I'm in college ? I just graduated last May. I can still play that card.

So you want to argue that you were set on cruise control at 68 the entire time through a 60 mph speed limit and not 71?
Actually matters in terms of revenue (which is what traffic tickets are really all about.) At eleven miles over, the ticket revenue goes to the local government. Anything ten and under goes to the state government.

It is, but a lot of times the prosecutor will let you skate with just court costs.
Posted on 1/27/16 at 8:55 am to tigerbandpiccolo
"pacing" tickets are just cops hitting the quota. They assume you wont go to court and fight it. If you did, you would win because there is no evidence of you speeding. But they are banking that going to the courthouse at 9am and waiting all day for your "hearing" will force you to pay the $160 (or more) ticket.
FWIW, that cop was a dick.

This is LSP, it will be handled by the DA for the Parish where the violation occurred (verify if it is Jefferson or St. Charles). Depending on your previous record, the might drop to NMV.
2) if you fight it, you stand to really get fricked (especially that Trooper shows up - and he will).
This is why you hire a traffic attorney to either get the case dropped or plead out of court to a NMV. You'll pay more, but it 1)stays off your record, and 2)stays off your insurance.
The state just wants your money.
