Dry area completely,smear anti fungal ointment liberally at night.
Take zinc supplements and see if that helps,zinc deficiency can sometimes cause body odor issues.My stepsons feet smelled like a rat died in his shoes,zinc fixed it in a week.
I have no idea why,read it in newspaper Dr. column.
If that doesn’t help go to dermatologist after New Years.
Report back when the problem is solved,might help someone else.

Looks like most of the folks here have hit a few things well.
I’ll add that you might want new towels and underwear. Or atleast wash them on the hottest setting with oxyclean or something. They can harbor bacteria that doesn’t die in the wash and will continue to smell when used.
