How does it happen? I am 20 pounds over the weight

So I wonder what happens how do you get to that point?
Well, tell us. How did you get to that point??
20 lbs overweight is borderline obese.
Asking so I can avoid that scenario

Avoiding processed foods is incredibly hard without lengthy meal prep.
1 to 2 hours a week is lengthy to you?

It’s really not. And you don’t have to meal prep like package your every meal. You just have to actively choose to eat fruits, vegetables, and meats.
Just don’t buy the shite foods

this isn't true at all
my dinner almost every night is a grilled/seared protein and some type of roasted assortment of vegetables
requires no meal prep and is incredibly easy

Yeah man, most 40 year old dudes that are 220 are just carrying around a bunch of mass, not fat as frick.
That's definitely it. That's the reason diabetes has tripled in like 20 years.
I get that, but not including body fat percentage is lazy and short sighted

You know damn good and well anyone saying meal prep is too time consuming is the same person saying they don’t have time to exercise, yet has 3-5 favorite TV shows

I was over 300 when i was 16 so this was never a new thing for me. My parents really didn't understand healthy food and neither did I at that age.
Started working construction and being outside and climbing structures all day i could eat what i wanted and maintain the around 300 mark. Didn't ever bother me because i grew up with it and was used to it and was very strong so i wasn't limited physically in anything i could do beside not wanting to take my shirt off with I went swimming.
Eventually wanted to get out of the field went to online classes got my certifications and degrees and got an office job.
Now this is where it went really south because I ate the same as I always did but without the added physicality of my job it just started piling on.
My top weight was 420 pounds. around 34 I decided to actually educate myself on what healthy food and eating was and decided to make a change. working out 4 - 5 days a week and legitimately eating healthy i dropped roughly 120 pounds in 6 years time.
Now at 40 it's a harder struggle but it's still something i have to work at all the time it really is a lifestyle change.
TL/DR. Poor education about healthy dieting, general laziness, and genetics that require a little extra effort.

Yep. It’s all about priorities

You might have 10 years left to live if you don’t drop another 100 pounds. Being over 300 most of your life is worse than doing meth most of your life. Let that soak in a minute.

Did they not know that over-consuming food (especially processed and high salt/sugar/fat) is bad for you or did they just not think being healthy was a big deal? Not any kind of gotcha or anything. I just see this stated a lot and I'm never sure what people mean by it.

I can tell you a high stress job will keep the pounds off.
If you don't have time to eat because you are too busy, you will lose weight.

Definitely. Same can be said for being lazy. I am still small but I was like 90lbs the first few years out of high school (I'm 4'9", its not unhealthy) because I was so lazy I'd sleep through breakfast hours and then lounge around browsing TD/watching TV until 4pm when I finally ate my first meal of the day. Too lazy to go get food caused me to just not eat
But you're also right about being too busy. On really busy work days, I'll go the whole day without eating. Or if I don't bring lunch and it storms all day, I'd rather not eat than go out into the rain.
When I travel for work, I always lose weight.
