I find myself on the back porch most nights drinking bourbon and smoking a cigar. By myself.

Genteel southerner enjoying the fruits of his labor or borderline alcoholic on a downward spiral?

How many bourbons? Do you drink before/at work?

A man needs time to keep his own counsel.

And it’s best to think with a smoke and a drink

If it’s not an issue you are fine. If it affects your life negatively, you got problems.

I get fricked up on the porch all the time.

I figure that with some hefty binge drinking during the weekend isn’t too bad...especially during football season.

i too generally will have a beer, a glass of wine, or a whiskey at home after things have wound down in the house (i.e. kids in bed finally)

Usually the wife joins me with a glass of wine of her own.

Then we start mainlining black tar heroin

Just enjoying life.

Look, as long as it isn’t negatively affecting your family life or your work obligations, enjoy yourself.

It’s when she starts jabbering through the to do list that things turn south. I may double up then just to get through it.

That’s why I came here.

Doctors want you to drink less and exercise.

That's BS. The guidelines tend to be two drinks a day for a guy. That is even debatable. There's no study claiming 2 day is the max. It's just a nice round number and it most likely make you not to drunk to drive.

Plus there's a difference between liquor, wine, beer, light beer since they all have varying alcohol content.

You can drink as much as you want AND exercise. I choose that. 6'1, 195 lbs, blonde hair, green eyes. 110/70 BP..I laugh in the face of the doctors.

ETA: Resting heart rate 49.

If this makes you an alcoholic, I’m fricked. Although my wife does come chill and have a cocktail with me
