I hate to say it, but there is almost zero chance that they are going to catch anyone based on evidence from your house alone...it was simply not a serious enough crime to warrant much of an investigation.

hese things are almost never solved until the criminals get caught inside someone's house. In that event, they would try to tie them to other burglaries using evidence that they collected in the past.

ETA: I have had my house burglarized before and can say that the damn feelings of vulnerability are terrible and life changing....you have my sympathy.

There was also some stuff stashed in the shed near a door they left unlocked that they were going to come back for.

Confused here. They left a shed near some door unlocked and are intending to return and retrieve items??? How do you know they intended for a round 2 at your casa? also did you expect them to lock back up after the burglary? sorry this just threw me off entirely.

Crime scene found blood where they cut themselves in multiple places and got good samplesif they have been incarcerated then their DNA will be on file

IF IF IF they spend the $ to test and run the samples. I was burglarized once and blood was left on the broken glass and the LEO looked at me like I was an alien when I asked if they were going to test the blood samples.

Doesn’t matter. If they are caught do not think they will spend much time in jail.

One pistol, a knife, some jewelry, a spare set of truck keys and some petty cash were taken.

Unless these things were lying out in plain view for some reason this was someone familiar with your house. Burglars don-t usually frick around shopping in your house. They grab the electronics and check the obvious spots for guns and jewelry. Do you have kids? Do they have shady friends? How many teenagers in your neighborhood that are familiar with your house?

If I were you my biggest concern would be the stolen keys. Are you going to have your truck re-keyed???

Biggest question that hasn’t been asked yet....

What are you going to do when they return?

You are now an easy mark for them and they think you are unarmed....

My practice has been a civil practice. To answer your question I had to think back to the criminal law I learned in school and what I've learned from the movies.

Since your post referred to more than one thug, I would think the prosecutor would have to include a charge of Aidin' and Abettin'.

I would be most concerned about a set of keys being stolen. I highly recommend having everything rekeyed and adding additional security.

The DNA might eventually result in identifying somebody but, it will take forever to happen.

Firearms should be kept in a secured and attached gun safe, even when in your house.

I hate a damned thief.

How am I supposed to blow away a burglar if the gun he wants to steal is in the safe?

Just wait until they file a personal injury lawsuit against your homeowner's policy for cutting themselves in your home. You'll catch the fine young men then.

They left the back door to the shed unlocked... and instead of carrying the tools and such with them on the first round, they put them in a box near the door as if they would come back later to get them in a truck or something. Easy in and easy out on the second trip if they could. I got home early that day, and perhaps they didn't get the opportunity.

Negative to shady kids friends... wife is expecting our first right now.

Nobody should have been familiar with the house. Gun was in nightstand, everything else was in jewelry box or on the dresser.

If I am home... that would be a terrible mistake on their part. My wife and I each have our concealed carry permits and are active participants in carrying daily. It wouldn't end well for them.

That crap is expensive. I called to see what it would cost. Insurance said they wont cover it. Maybe they are dumb enough to steal the truck. Then they would be more likely to be caught by the newly installed security system and cameras.
