Had bronchitis for the first time ever back in February. Most aggravating thing ever. Didn't shake it till April. Several rounds of anti-biotic. Lots of dry coughing.

I know several people dealing with it right now. Same thing. Very stubborn bug. Just lingers and makes them miserable.

Prayers sent.

And for those of you who have had it, how does one diagnose pneumonia? Is the treatment the same, i.e. antibiotics and steroid pack?

You don't have pneumonia. Your ribs would be hurting when you cough, and phlegm possibly bloody and very green. Early symptoms are not being able to keep food down and low grade fever, but within a few hours you'll feel sensitivity to light and extreme nausea. It's worse than the flu.

Do you know what type antibiotic was started? Was it a macrolide or doxycycline?

I do not know. All he remembers is that he took 3 pills (500 mg), twice daily for 3 days, total of 12.

Does this help?

Eating mostly soup. Food stays down, but the antibiotics messed up his stomach.

No fever, or should I say very light at 99. Not enough to worry about --- and when he took an aspirin for pain, it knocked out the "fever."

That sounds like azithromycin. They gave him antibiotics for bronchitis already. Bronchitis can linger for a long time, especially the cough. Unless he develops fever, begins coughing up colored sputum, develops nausea, shortness of breath, or severe chills he most likely does not have pneumonia.

I have had similar thing with me. I don't know what it is.

I went to doctor last week and told her the same stuff. I also added for an inhaler with antibiotics. She gave me 10 days of 500mg Amoxicillin. I still have a few days left.

My throat was bad and that's why I went in. Throat is better, but still have wheezing, ears popping, fatigue and congestion.

Feels like I'll never get over it. It has been going on for about two weeks. I don't know if what I had is getting clashed with allergies. I live next to fields that are getting harvested.

It's miserable though. Just my story.

Thanks for starting the thread because I'll probably be calling my doc today to do a follow-up. Like I said, the Amoxicillin helped great but I've had this for like 2weeks. I should've went in sooner tbh.

He should continue to follow with his PCP as scheduled for follow up. He needs to stay vigilant of symptom changes and go back to the Doctor immediately if anything changes. Plus he should continue to follow the treatment plan they have started him on.

It’s a virus. Antibiotics only treat bacterial infections. Antibiotics WILL NOT help. Only time and his immune system will. OTC mess for symptom relief

He could have symptoms for 3-4 weeks.

No amount of internet advice can replace an actual visit with his physician.

He should continue to follow up with them. Make sure he alerts his physician about any change in symptoms.
