Jerking off in a deer stand seems to be a popular cure.

Antibiotics aren’t indicated for bronchitis. 99.9% of the time bronchitis is caused by a virus...in an immunocompetent person. Symptomatic treatment alone works for the vast majority of patients.
Albuterol nebs, cough suppressant and steroids usually helps decrease the symptoms in a day or two.
If that doesn’t work then further workup is necessary to look for other diagnoses like pneumonia, heart failure, pulmonary embolism, flu, etc...
Have him go see a pulmonologist...or just get some OTC Vagisil and Midol. These will be just as effective as the antibiotics he was given.

I had a long history of bronchitis. If I had just taken otc medication, I would now be dead. if it were not for clarithromycin, I would still be fighting it. Have been clear for a few years now- thank God!

I find that taking ibuprofen helps with bronchitis, because at some point the coughing has inflamed the bronchial tubes enough that the inflammation is causing the cough, rather than the mucus. Then you have a feedback loop that’s hard to break, and the NSAIDs help kill the inflammation so you can finally quit. That and mucinex helps me stop producing the fluid long enough to beat the virus without getting bronchitis.
Sometimes I will also take Benadryl but that’s more sleep aid than anything I think.

My bronchitis has nearly always been viral. Which means... Steroids and inhaler.
This the 4th time in maybe 10 years. Completely unproductive, but will randomly get up a piece of bloody tissue.
Infinitely better than it was last month. Feels like another few weeks to go.
Viral is not a quick and easy fix. I've got 120ish doses left on this dorky ads inhaler.

Bronchitis usually lasts about 3 weeks and is usually caused by a viral infection. It’s inflammation, so the cough being dry is right; there’s no underlying bacterial infection so it’s not going to produce a lot of mucus.
Also, why did the doctor prescribe an antibiotic if he diagnosed it as bronchitis? Antibiotics are ridiculously over-prescribed.

Bronchitis is literally the inflammation of the bronchi, so it’s no surprise that an anti inflammatory would help.
