I think obtuse1 is correct

To me that sounds like a CV joint or inner tie rod issue, but with a Bimmer, who the hell knows

26,500 miles and a 2018. If it was purchased locally I would verify warranty and approach dealership where it was purchased . I was a mechanic for 40 yrs prior to retiring 3 yrs ago. That's low mileage-maybe there's a TSB (technical service bulletin) for this issue -who knows? Obtuse makes some good points .

If the vibration only presents on coasting that is not indicative of a CV joint and he didn't report any clicking or thumping while turning. It is possible but WAY down the list of causes based on the reported symptoms.

You could have a tire out of round. I have a truck that had the same issue. Checked everything. It was a bad tire.

Normally a tire with runout issues will manifest with a vibration that is directly proportional to speed except occasionally the tire runout and suspension compliance will result in the vibrations vanishing in a fairly tight speed window. Sometimes you can hear the out-of-round issues as moderate speeds in a quiet neighborhood with the car windows down, it is a whomp whomp sound proportional to speed that sounds similar but not as loud as a cupped tire due to bad shocks/struts.
Another thing that is useful for diagnosing suspension or brake issues is to ride or brake right beside a concrete median with the window down. The median will reflect the sound back into the car.

Torque converter, that’s all I got.

+1 for a warped brake rotor.
Had this a while back. Got tires balanced, aligned, rotated whole nine yards and wouldn’t fix. Rotors replaced and it’s smooth as butter now.

Wife’s Audi did a similar thing, vibration noticed in coasting down. I noticed that it was happening right around 1100 RPM, and I suspected transmission or differential problems. Lo and behold I put it in neutral and ran the engine through the suspect rpm range, I could reproduce it sitting still. It was loosened exhaust clamps allowing for resonance through the exhaust piping in that frequency range. There was a TSB out for the corrected clamp designs.

The place Obtuse recommending is (I assume because it's Obtuse) a highly reputably place so will point out the service bulletin to the owner and suggest getting it to the dealership for the correction unless they are authorized to do the work themselves and get reimbursed(not sure it ever works that way). I had an event like this with my wife's Honda in the 90s at a shop in Lafayette, Stan's Automotive, I was quite impressed by this.

I know what bad CV joints sound like, it’s not that.
I’m go bring it in next week and see if the local BMW mechanic can diagnose it.
I know it’s almost impossible to diagnose something like this over the internet, but I was kind of hoping that someone with the same problem would have responded, “yeah, I had the same issue and it was this”.

Probably needs new brake rotors
Could also be the hubs/bearings. That might explain the "random" happening.

I'm leaning toward this or the brake rotors.
BTW, if anyone is curious about the low miles, this is what happens when a college student lives on campus and just has no reason to drive that much.

Just bumping this because solution was found.
Cracked rim.
It’s weird how it presented itself over time. The crack apparently propagated slowly to the point where the tire could no longer hold air. That’s when I took it to the shop and the cracked rim was discovered.
Ordered a new replacement rim and problem solved.

Possibly a worn or broke engine mount. I'd have that definitely checked.
